I need something to look forward to as I'm in final stages of divorce. I've never taken my kids abroad before. I'd like to stay in an air BnB or hotel if it's close to a beach, I do not want a pool holiday.
I'd like minimal travelling from airport to accommodation and I don't want to hire a car.

All I need is to be close to a warm sandy beach and a grocery shop if it's air BnB.

I don't have a clue where to start. Please give me some ideas of where to search. Budget for flights and accommodation is £2000 max. One adult two children. One week at the end of the summer holidays.

Thanks

Cala D'or in Majorca

Would you consider a Eurocamp/Yelloh style holiday? It would mean you'd have a separate sleeping area from your dc, and (depending on their age) they could have the freedom to explore the campsite and make friends, meaning you wouldn't have to keep them entertained the whole time. Most sites have restaurants and/or takeaway places so you wouldn't have to cook all the time either.

I'd look at Jet2. They are very simple to use. It's a big red blob of check in desks at airport with a load of staff to help. Luggage included so you don't have to mess about with extra costs or packing all your stuff into a tiny bag. Coach transfers always well organised and again, obvious jet2 staff at airports.
They do lots of options. Just because there's a pool doesn't mean you need to use it.

Thanks I'll look into all of these. I've never heard of Eurocamp/Yelloh style

Have a look at this place op. I've stayed there as a single parent with 2 kids myself. It's got several pools, a restaurant, pool, table tennis etc, good and spacious accommodation and is opposite a small.supermarket. loads of cafes, restaurants and shops all the way down to the beach and harbour and it's one of the nicer resorts in gran Canaria. It's also close to the bus station where you can take buses to the water park or zoo. We got a 2 bed, 2 bathroom apartment for a week for £1600 last summer in the middle of the school hols so should definitely be in your budget, easy jet holidays are really good value. www.easyjet.com/en/holidays/spain/gran-canaria/puerto-mogan/cordial-mogan-valle?ibf=true&to=03-09-2025&from=27-08-2025&dst=ESGCPM&sAccId=&geog=ES,ESGC,ESGCPM&flex=0&org=LGW,LTN,SEN,STN&aa=1&rooms=2&outId=2236590035/1083361&inId=2237054828/1123394&accId=Z0048437&packId=2241325264/2/2795/7&boardType=SC&offerRooms=2/1BEDAPT!ONLSC.15&transfer=W2MS61739KSS&dtransfer=W2MS61739KSS&isExt=1&lateRoomCheckout=0&theme=beach&altAccIds=ESGC0042&altPackIds=2154812441/2/2795/7&__ejhsort=hotels_list|1|Sn259nZ3

If your kids are under 10 I’d second a posh caravan in France or Spain type holday. Often very short, easy commutes from airports and excellent on site facilities. I love a caravan. Clean, everyone has their own room and entertainment etc on site.

In Majorca, Palma is really nice too - great city beaches, museums, shopping, historical sites and couldn’t get closer to the airport really. Public transport excellent and good for pre/ tweens. loads of airbnbs and good shopping and eating facilities. I prefer it to the resorts like Cala D’or to be honest.
