Thailand weather concerns in summer

We’d like to take our 16 and 14 year old teens to Thailand during the school summer holidays. Looking at around 2 weeks or slightly longer. DH and I have been many moons ago, before kids. We love the culture, people and food.

We’d ideally be looking at a couple of nights in Bangkok, couple of nights perhaps in the forest/country and the rest of the time on a luxury island resort.

I’m concerned that the weather may be an issue and wouldn’t want it to ruin the holiday. Can anyone share their own experiences? Or
would you recommend anywhere else in south east Asia which might work better?

It’s likely to be quite rainy so that might spoil the islands. Further north you might get better weather.

The Koh Samui side is typically drier than Phuket side in August. Looking at average rainfall Chiang Mai in the north seems the worst, Koh Samui doesn't look too bad at all. We transited through Bangkok for about 15 hours travelling between Sydney and the Maldives in August 2023, a tiny sample, but it poured it down for a couple of hours as we arrived about 5pm then stopped, but everywhere was hugely wet as in rain dripping through ceilings in road over passes and stuff, and then it was nice and sunny the next morning. I imagine you would get downpours and dry parts of the day, and you make the best of it.

Is there any chance you could go at Easter instead? We went a couple of years ago and it was fab, Bangkok, Chang Mai then Koh Chang.
