Dear All, I am hoping to go away in June to Majorca (was told to go here as only short flight and very child friendly). I have a 18mo dd. We ideally like to go to resort near beach either all inclusive or half board. We had a dreadful year last year, lost my mum very suddenly so would like to spoil my husband and my dd as they have been my rock over the last few months. Suggestions please on where to go. Many Thanks xx

We stayed at the Club Pollentia resort when DD was 18mo and she loved it - very child friendly, cots & highchairs incl, babysitting & free creche/kids club if you need /want it, mini-disco every night, great kids part of lovely (cold!) pool, big playground, lots of sporting activities, bikes for hire (loads of trails nearby) and nice accommodation (book the Village part rather than the Maris part, which is a bit more institutional). Food not terribly cordon bleu, all on big buffets but very fresh and lots of it, chefs there to cook to order if you wanted. Breakfasts were great and although we liked the evening selections (lots of fish and salads) there were lots of complaints from other diners (no chips or nuggets for the children, for example...). It's half board via Sovereign or a few other companies (probably cheaper elsewhere unless you get a deal like we did!) and you get to eat in their 'posh' restaurant free once per week - very nice food but a set menu, so a bit pointless if you don't like what they have that evening!

Also it's on a nature reserve, it's an eco-resort with little 2 storey blocks of apartments dotted in parkland, with duckponds every so often in between (fenced) - DD had great fun feeding the ducks and waterfowl each morning! We had a ground floor apartment room (all the rooms have a fridge, very handy, but no kettle, so bring your own!) and the ground floor terraces are not enclosed, so if your DD is anything like ours she will go wandering at the drop of a hat!

The lovely surroundings do, however, make it very quiet, so if you like something livelier I wouldn't go there. Lots of Germans and Swedes when we were there (I say that not in a pejorative manner, simply for info) but no fights for sun loungers as there are loads and you get two to yourself on your terrace anyway!. The beach across the road (quite a busy road!) is not great, a shingly strip, but about 1km down the road (bus stop immediately outside the hotel) is Puerto Pollensa, which we loved. Big broad promenade, a seafront Pine Walk which is shady and pedestrianised, lovely sandy beaches and gently shelving warm sea with lots of fish swimming about in it (DD was fascinated!). Loads of excellent restaurants and shops, all very child-friendly. There's a Thomson Super Family hotel there called Valentin Puerto Azul, which we said we'd stay in if we ever went back to Majorca as it's right in the middle of the town close to the beach.

Hope you find somewhere really nice
