Hi
Every year me and 3 friends go away for a city break - 3-4 days
We normally leave it until the last minute before deciding where to go - we are thinking of Stockholm - the 2nd week of December
Any info would be great - we have heard it is expensive - especially alcohol - and we do like a good drink :)

Partner and dd did this over half term. ABBA museum a must and the old town. They also took a ferry trip around the harbour. I would say for Christmas things look at fb page European Christmas markets. Have fun

We went for New Year a few years ago, and yes it was expensive for both food and drink, but really had a great time. Found out of the way bars which still expensive but not as much as the ones in main 'touristy' places.

Plenty to see and do (dragged DH along to the ABBA museum on New Years Day, thought it was just ok, lots of interactive things broken never been forgiven) some great museums/gallery's, lots of walking about which is really interesting. Enjoyed the Vasa museum a lot.

But I have never ever been so cold and have visited plenty other Nordic places, so wrap up warm in layers and tights under trousers.

Shopping expensive but did get some bargains of Sweedish Hasbeens shoes which were cheaper than the UK.

We would love to go back in the summer months and explore more of the area.

We went around new year a few years ago - loved it, but it was very cold! And yes, drinks are expensive. We went to Vilnius in early December and loved that, and had lots of great meals for a very reasonable price. Lovely Christmas market.
