We are planning this for next year. I’ve never been out of Europe! If you have been please give me your must do and must see - also what clothes to mitigate the heat and humidity.
Thanks in advance!

Haven’t been to KL yet but really enjoyed Singapore! Recommend trying some local dishes in the Hawker centres, you can get some great dishes for very affordable prices. Gardens by the bay is lovely and there’s a light show every night. Check out Haji lane, little India and China town! You can also get a cable cart over to Sentosa.

When it comes to Singapore (SG) and Kuala Lumpur (KL), Singapore feels more like a city center, while KL has a more laid-back vibe. Around KL, you can explore authentic villages, giving you a richer local experience—and it's easier on the wallet too! Plus, the food is absolutely delicious! If you're visiting either place, I recommend wearing loose, cotton or linen clothing to stay cool. Maybe I'm a bit biased, though—I'm from KL, and my hubby's from SG!

Amazing! At the moment we have the flights booked, nothing else. Looking at splitting time between KL, SG and possibly Penang.

Make sure you buy Mopiko in Singapore.

It's a game changer for bites.

Singapore was amazing when we went last year! One of my favourite places I’ve ever been
Second everything peppermintcreamz said re the food at the hawker centres, it’s amazing, if you do satay street allow some time to wait as it gets so busy
Absolutely loved gardens by the bay, definitely worth a visit
If you’re into zoos (which I understand a lot of people aren’t but it’s rated well for animal care) the night zoo is a great experience, do the walking but first to avoid queues for the tram bit
Public transport is so convenient and clean, we got one of the top up cards (you need cash to top up at a station if you’re not a resident). It feels very safe compared to other countries I’ve visited
Loose cotton clothing, almost everywhere has air con blasting so even walking around it’s not awful if you’re walking near the shop doorways 😂
The airport itself is amazing but if you want to see the waterfall check the times online (can’t remember off the top of my head) because we went all the way there and it was off 🙄😂
We watched the sunset at Level33 (cheaper than Marina Bay and still amazing views) we walked in but book for the prime seats

Batu caves are an easy train journey from central KL. Definitely recommend!

Petronas tower light show was also really good.

There's a cute cafe called the Bubble Bee Cafe which I can recommend for breakfast. We ate there everyday during our stay in KL.

If you're planning on travelling Malaysia, I'd definitely go to Langkawi, it's stunning. Gorgeous untouched beaches and waterfalls. You could always stop at the Cameron Highlands on the way up north for tea tasting and walking in the hills.

Can’t thank you all enough 👏

I would second a stop off at Cameron Highlands if going to Penang. Also consider a trip to Tioman Island off the east coast. It’s like the Maldives, Seychelles 30 years ago. If you visit the east coast check out the turtles at Kuala Terengganu.

Love Singapore but it is so ordered and clean compared to the gritty hustle and bustle of KL. A Singapore Sling at the Long Bar in Raffles is a must. Get the cable car over to Sentosa Island.

Make sure you go to the science museum in Singapore specially if travelling with kids
