1 day in Paris with 4yo

We are going on a last family mini break as 3 before our second child arrives in January.

We have 1 day in Paris and 2 days in Disney (This part is organised) next week.

What would you do for one day in Paris, with a well traveled 4yo? She loves art, exploring, climbing. I’ve told Dad a croissant and hot chocolate are a must. She’s not a stranger to more grown up things. We took her to a children’s opera at La Scala when she just turned 3.

I was think Louvre, Eiffel Tower, maybe the Batobus?

Also, any shops/ things to buy for baby while in Paris? I am tempted to go to the pharmacy and get some Mustela toiletries for baby.

Essentially, hit me with your tips.

I would go to Montmartre, visit Sacre Coeur, ride the funicular, look at the buskers/portrait artists, go to a cafe.

Not sure about the Louvre tbh, a smaller less crowded museum may work better.

Walk through Bastille area, pop into any fun shops, and stroll along the river

Eiffel Tower make sure you get advance tickets! Mine still remember the queues as I hadn’t …

Just make sure you pre book the Eiffel Tower and remember the Louvre is absolutely huge -I hadn't appreciated this so it was a bit overwhelming, we choose to just focus on the ancient Egypt section and Mona Lisa as that was our main interest.

@minipie snap!

She might like the Jardin du Luxembourg, there is a fantastic kids playground there, plus the boating lake for sailing miniature boats (and pony rides if you're OK with that).

With regards to shopping, I used to like Obaibi (Okaidi) clothes for my kids when they were tiny - there are lots of their stores around Paris.

Check out the extreme day trips group on Facebook, Paris and specifically Paris with children comes up regularly

I was going to suggest the same as @PrideoftheThames . I'd go to Luxembourg gardens in the morning, playground, pony rides, sailboats and the carousel. Afternoon I'd either take the 82 bus to the Champ de Mars at the base of the Eiffel tower (don't bother going up with a little one, it's tiresome) or walk 30 mins via Notre Dame cathedral to the Musee Carnavalet in the Marais to see the old-school Parisian shop signs, because it's free and you can go for one or two rooms and then leave when they get fractious. The problem with the Louvre or the Musee d'Orsay or any of the paid-for museums is you pay £££ for a ticket and then they get fed up after two rooms.

I found this too from this January, which has loads of suggestions for 3 year old friendly things: https://nymag.com/strategist/article/paris-france-itinerary-things-to-do.html

Trampolines in the Tuileries, nap strolls, and kid-friendly art museums.

We took our DD at 4. She enjoyed the Eiffel Tower and there was a mini train there (the Trocadero side) and a carousel. We took the boat back to Bastille after and she loved that too.

Our DD was bored on the boat trip, she was 7 then.

The Jardin de Luxembourg - absolutely, it's beautiful and really worth.

Look into the Tour de Montparnasse instead of the Eiffel Tower as you can actually see the Eiffel Tower from there, we did it at a last minute change when all the Eiffel Tower tickets were gone.

Montmatre is a nice area to stroll around.
