Where to stay in Dubai...

It's not my first choice destination but we have a family member there and we want some winter sun because this year had been tough and we're shattered.

But how on earth do you choose where to stay? There are so many hotels.

We've got 5 nights and we just want to swim, sleep eat and see the family member. I'm not interested in excursions or shopping.

Recommendations please!

You are right. There are so many options in Dubai.

Are you looking for all inclusive, bed and breakfast or half board? Thats a good way to narrow down your options.

Also, which areas would you prefer to stay in? Palm, jumeriah, near the beach, by the harbour or in the city?

@lovemyboyz247 good questions. I don't know the geog of the place at all. Definitely not in the city. Which area is the last bustling?

Where is the family member based?

Look at the Jumeira or the palm area for good hotels. 20mins transfer from the airport, not too expensive to get into Downtown. You will get AI’s further out in Jebel Ali or other emirates billed as ‘Dubai’ but are actually in Ras Al Khaimah (lovely but a schlep back into Downtown Dubai)

Personally, I’ve been to the one and only Arabian Court at the Royal Mirage for 20+ years and it is always high quality - plenty of choice for F&B, nice pool and a beach. You’ll get Half-Board deals through Best At Travel or Kenwood Travel.

There are plenty of boozy AI brunches over the weekend at various hotels/restaurants. Alcohol is expensive so these tend to be good value (but busy).

Where does your relative stay? Traffic is a nightmare here now and it takes ages to get anywhere.

Le Royal Meridian is lovely

@AgentProvocateur I have no idea! I'll find out. Thank you

As others have said. Try and find out where your relative is staying and it will be easier to give you suggestions.

There are many good hotels in Dubai, but traffic can be heavy so if you know the area you want to stay in, people can make suggestions according to that

Also say if you want bed and breakfast or all inclusive?

if you’re not interested in excursions or shopping then just pick the nearest hotel in your budget to your family member.

Personally I like al Qasr which is Arabian resort style or st Regis on the Palm (but don’t stay there unless your family member is near).
