Paphos (Cyprus) or the Algarve

With 6 month old at the start of November. We’d like a relaxing holiday with some sun and beaches with nice walks and beauty/places of interest. Will probably have a car.
Not been to either before so just wondering if people have opinions on which is better? Many thanks 🙂

The Algarve is very child friendly and the locals are welcoming. Not sure how warm it will be in November though.

I’d go to the Algarve if you’re after walks, beauty spots and places of interest. There’s Benagil Cave, Algar Seco and Carvoeiro boardwalk, the Seven Hanging Valleys Trail… Plenty of lovely towns and villages to explore.

Algarve all day long!

Paphos in November is the wettest month.
You might get some pleasant sunshine days.. but be very cool on an evening.
Some places might not be open either.
We stay in Tala hills a lot ( just outside Paphos towards Coral bay.
Coral bay strip will be open and probably more to do there and there is two lovely beaches .
It's about same with the Algarve.. weather wise.. but more windy with it being off the coast of Africa and on the Atlantic coast ( which is a colder sea).
Albuferia and Vilamora will still have some shops and restaurants open.

.

Portugal is a shorter flight and lovely in summer but not sure it would be so nice in November. Forecast for next week is 19-21 degrees and rain. Paphos is a four hour flight but a lot warmer- forecast next week is 24-26 degrees and not much rain. I’d go with cyprus for the weather, which opens up beach as an option. Paphos is lovely.

In terms of weather - we've just literally got back from the Algarve yesterday (more's the pity) and it was 24 degrees on the warmest day, about 22 degrees on the cooler days but was a little bit chilly on the mornings until the sun burnt any clouds off. Didn't need to change out of t-shirt and shorts for any of it, but the weather was definitely cooling off - I still managed to catch the sun though, but I am about 99% vampire in terms of complexion and how I react to sunlight.

Faro airport, which was hell on earth when we went in May, with long snaking pre-queues to get to the passport queue, we were so quick through this time around it was nuts (and bloody hell do they have some gorgeous security guys on there).

Kids (mine are 11 and 12) are wanting to go back yet again - but it was the antithesis of a "nice MN holiday" in that we just sat around the pool reading books and drinking cocktails while the kids were in the water constantly and we didn't leave the resort once - and it was bliss!

Not been to Cyprus but we love the algarve, and that includes going when the kids were babies

not sure about the weather in November though.

DH always goes to the Algarve to play golf in November. Generally speaking it’s t shirt weather during the day and jumper or jacket in the evening. Less shops and restaurants open at that time of year but even in the smaller towns and villages always somewhere to eat and drink.

I love both destinations. With such a young baby, I would go Algarve just because of the shorter flight.
HOWEVER, Faro's immigration queues are vile (I've queued longer than the flight on occasion). They may help with a baby... not sure.
Paphos immigration queues are 30 mins max.

Which resort did you go to out of interest? Sounds like my kind of holiday!

Paphos is still quite hot now. 25-28 degrees. Some hotels shut down after October tho. Plenty to do tho. Clean. Easy to navigate. Longer flight but short airport transfer
