Hi, new here. First time going to DLP as a family. I’ve looked at what food and drink we can take in our suitcases (not hand luggage). It’s says nothing containing dairy eg: chocolate. But, I’ve also seen some people have taken chocolate crepes, pain au chocolate, chocolate filled brioche and cereal bars.

I would take whatever you want (within reason), but just be aware that there is a risk that it may get confiscated, worse case scenario. It’s hardly akin to smuggling heroin. We regularly take cereal bars, dried fruit snacks, pretzels, tubes of Pringles etc… and have never been searched.

It's literally just nothing fresh meat and dairy, except for immediate consumption. So you can take a ham and cheese sandwich for en route, but not 10 blocks of cheese. You can take chocolate and anything packaged/ambient, but not fresh cheese, fresh yogurt, pâté, fresh meat.

Hilariously I often see the question "can you take oat/almond/soy milk?" Yes of course. It's not dairy.

You are vanishingly unlikely to be stopped or checked.

You can take chocolate and anything containing chocolate. It's actual dairy products (milk, cheese, butter, yoghurt, etc) that you can't take unless you consume it on the journey before you reach France. Meat, fruit and veg can't be taken into France but again can be consumed during the journey. You probably won't be searched but if you are, the banned food will be confiscated and you could face a fine. I have driven to France many times and have been randomly pulled over by customs twice.

That’s great. Thank you for the advice everyone.
