Heading to Spain self-catering this week - been once before but did no cooking. HMU with your recommendations for brands/food to try while we're there and also foodie souvenirs! Particularly into fish and pickles.

Thank you!

We always come back with their double handled green shopping bags. We sometimes go as an extended family and we all have a stash as they are so big but super easy to carry and handle.

Correct. 😂 The tomato jam was on the top shelf and I couldn't reach it without the steps.

I much prefer the fig one anyway 😉

Another thing I had forgotten existed is tender garlic (ajos tiernos). They look a bit like spring onions but longer and they are garlic so taste different. Really smooth, not pungent at all like normal garlic. Very versatile, lovely in scrambled egg.

Tinned tuna is virtually an art form in Spain, the quality is better I usually bring some tins back, makes a great salade Niçoise. Ortiz is a good brand.
