Insurance -waiting for diagnosis?

Hi.
We've got two trips to Europe next year.
I'm fine insurance wise.
However just realising it's nigh on impossible to get insurance for my partner (was going for a joint one, that's how I know!).
So he had a suspected TIA in July 2023... however, that's not the issue. Covered for that no problem. Having trouble now because he's waiting for a referral to a dermatologist! He's got this skin thing going on. Could be allergic, could be eczema. But because he's waiting nobody will insure.
Could be waiting up to 40 weeks for this.
This must affect so many people!
Can anybody recommend an insurance company? If they've been through similar.
Found one, but it was £300. Crazy.
And someone else who we've used before, when he told them about the waiting for referral, just said they aren't able to insure.

Trying to get travel insurance when you have certain medical issues or are waiting for a diagnosis can be a nightmare.

been through myself - tbh, if you have an offer of insurance cover, I’d take it. The cost is annoying but at least it’s done and sorted.

If you can afford it - how about seeing a private dermatologist. That way they’ll write to your GP with a diagnosis and it’s sorted. Look on Top Doctors for a recommendation in your area.

Thank you for your replies. Yes, been thinking about private referral so this is an option! And yes, also thinking about just paying for the quote we have had. Just annoying as we know his skin won't cause any problems. Well certainly not hospital treatment.

You can refer yourself. No need for a GP referral.

This has come up on here before. Extremely annoying. There will be people who buy insurance in good faith then suddenly are in limbo like you are and without informing the insurance company (and paying xxx extra) technically you aren’t insured. Someone then will get a nasty surprise.

I’d be looking at private referrals but that might cost similar to the increased premium

He has been referred. Just waiting for an appointment now. Not been diagnosed with anything.
