Copenhagen - Is it expensive?

Hi all, I'm looking to book a long weekend in Copenhagen for my birthday in April but there's a lot of online discussion about how expensive it is...

Flights and hotel would be around £300 per person for Fri-Mon (getting full days on both). But when you're actually there do you end up spending a lot of money?

We have a recent obsession with Vikings so would love to do museums and travel to some smaller towns outside CPH

Has anyone been recently and can talk about costs? With how expensive everything is in the UK (and I'm up North!) I'm wondering if it won't feel like such of a hit when comparing.

Does the Copenhagen card include the Tivoli gardens at Christmas market time, does anyone know? TIA

It includes one entry

@BigDahliaFan yeah, we liked Frederiksborg Castle as well. There are historic royal family members signatures scratched on the windows in the chapel there which was great. The grounds are lovely so I wish we'd gone earlier in the day so we could have spent longer there.

Do I need to bother getting any DKK?

I used my bank card everywhere (it doesn't charge fees for using abroad) - didn't need cash at all.

Came back from Copenhagen last night having done three nights. Stayed in the Admiral, which was nice - had a duplex family room for the four of us.

Definitely get the Copenhagen card. We used it for loads of stuff and used the metro (mainly the circle line) quite a lot and it gives you free entry to most of the things you’d want to visit. Aside from that, prices were quite high - a bit higher than London for food and drink but if you have a good breakfast then you can eat a light lunch from a bakery or similar (the food hall at Norreport is great for lunch) and research good places for supper and book in advance. We had two really nice meals at the fish restaurant in the meatpacking district and at Goldfinch (a Chinese restaurant at Kogens Nytorv).

Tivoli was great and the children (who aren’t massive white knuckle riders) enjoyed most of the rides, and it was done up really well for Halloween. There was also a nice food hall there where we had some decent sushi.

Went to the zoo (probably wouldn’t have were it not on the Cp Card) for a look at the pandas, and to the Cisterne nearby, which was a slightly creepy/atmospheric underground art space. Also went to the design museum (modern chair porn!) and did a canal tour - definitely recommend doing that (also on the CP card) as one of the first things. Walked up the round tower and looked at the royal palace. Finished off with half a day shopping for nice skandi stuff and (near the Norreport food hall) there was a big outdoor store with loads of discounted Fjallraven gear.

All told I’d say it was my 2nd favourite skandi capital, coming in just behind Helsinki.

Ha! I think you just went on my planned trip! I was even on the cusp of booking the duplex loft at the Admiral!

Most major European cities or at least capitals are pretty similar in price now.

Ooh, what was the hotel, please, as looking for same set up as we had access to Exec lounge and restaurant in Paris and it was luxurious but also saved us a bomb!
