Mum is pretty active for a 90 yr old so can walk a fair distance but needs to sit down periodically before setting off again.
I’d Like to treat her to a short break,UK or abroad.

She likes nice scenery with a small walk ( an hour max)cafes, beaches and a good hotel. She loves mountain views but not able to climb a whole mountain now but could manage a short climb on smooth ish terrain.
I had thought Madeira but I’m not sure if it’s too challenging as I’ve never been.

Any ideas or recommendations appreciated !

We did a multi centre trip to Bilbao and San Sebastian in the summer (3 nights in each), both of which were fab. Moving around probably too much for your Mum aged 90, but both destinations fab in their own right. San Sebastian definitely on the pricey side, has a beautiful beach and lots of lovely places to enjoy the warmth and the views, and lots of great food. Bilbao also lovely, but you need to locate yourselves near a metro station to cut down on the walking, beach is also out from the centre. Temperature varied between 22 and 29 in August, would be cooler now. We also had a really lovely trip to Malta in March, lots to see but not really beachy. We stayed in Valletta, it is a bit hilly though being a narrow peninsula with water on 3 sides, it's flat on top where the sites and the bust station are, but wander towards the edges of the city and there are lots of steps.

The sports car does sound fab 😃
You both need to get some silk scarves for your hair and a pair of oversized glamorous sunglasses and you'll look like movie stars!

Yes, wherever we go, we’re definitely doing this !
Silk scarves and mega sunglasses plus sports car 🤣
I suggested it to Mum and she’s very enthusiastic about it. She’s going through a phase of watching Bond movies at the moment so the glamour appeals to her.
Thanks everyone for your wonderful suggestions !

This might go down like a ton of bricks but hear me out: Benidorm.

It's not a long flight, easy airport transfers, lovely old town, fantastic flat prom to walk for literally miles and plenty of cafes to stop at.

We went last year for a weekend in November and I had to admit I had the wrong perception. Weather was lovely, it was fab to be walking about in T-shirts at the end of Nov. We stayed at a lovely hotel called H10 Porto Poniente right opposite the beach and next to the old town. We are going back again at the end of Nov this year.

I don't know Benidorm at all but I believe that you fly into Alicante which is a really nice town - worth a look at.

If you are open to Spanish costas then I like the La Caribuela area of Torremolinos - there are some pretty streets just behind the main walkway - and you can literally walk for miles along a flat promenade in both directions. It's quite popular with older people in the winter. Easy to get a train / Uber into Malaga for sightseeing (museums, cathedral etc) or a bus up to Mijas or Benalmádena Pueblo (white villages).

For a summer trip I second the poster who recommended Llandudno which also has fairly long flat promenade. Plus sightseeing into Snowdonia.

Rethymnon in Crete, Greece? I recall the town being walkable, flat, lots of cafes and things to do. There is a beach- although we went at end of Oct and didn't swim or use the beach at all. DH and got a coach to Heraklion to see Knossos and the museum there which I really enjoyed. I've rea Chania on Crete is lovely, but have no idea how flat/accessible it is.

Just along the coast from Benidorm is an old, coastal town called Altea, it’s not hugely built up and has a backdrop of hills. There is a lovely promenade with cafes and restaurants. Lots of places in the surrounding area to visit and is not too busy.

Soller / Port de Soller in Majorca. Beautiful place, vintage trams run between the two. Very connected to Palma with the best option being via the vintage train which takes you through the citrus groves and up in to the Mountains.
