Barbados all inclusive resorts alternatives to Sandals

I've got a big birthday coming up in January and am researching resorts in the Caribbean (must be all inclusive) for myself and DH.
I've found a cheap direct flight to Barbados so that's the destination.
I've obviously looked at all the Sandals resorts, but am thinking there must be other alternative resorts on a par with Sandals in terms of facilities, food, accommodation etc.
Anyone recommend any other similar to Sandals all inclusive resorts in Barbados?

OP I recommend that you book everything as package if you can, given the time of year that you wish to travel.

We flew/stayed with BA. There was heavy snowfall all across the country the day before we were due to fly out, so Gatwick shut down. BA phoned us up the following evening and rebooked us a week later (luckily we could shift our holiday). Whilst out there there was another hefty snowfall around London and hotel reception phoned and told us to stay put at BA's cost for an extra day. No faffing with insurance reqd.

I've not checked prices recently, but we've switched to holidaying in Mauritius instead of the Caribbean. No jetlag to worry about.

Club Barbados you can walk to Sandy Lane, take afternoon tea. Or you can walk to chattel village, then on to Holetown

May I ask when this was? We tried to have a drink at Sandy Lane a few years ago and they wouldn’t let us in unless we were staying at the hotel had a table booked for dinner.
Im glad if they are now letting non residents or diners in.

Stayed at Ocean 2 in 2019. It was FABULOUS. I believe it’s undergone a makeover and is now even better. Went to Sandals this March. That was amazing. All inclusive doesn’t mean you can’t try the restaurants and bars in St Lawrence Gap or the Friday fish fry at Oistins. Barbados is the best x

Sorry to hijack the thread but what time of year is best to go to Barbados? Would you go in the summer holidays or maybe October or Easter?

letshavetea · 15/10/2024 18:12

If you’re tied to school hols then you may have to go then. November to the end of March are lovely times. Tbh I’d be happy to go any time though!

Follow up to what @Soontobe60 said. I was booked for Club Barbados last year, and in between booking it and reading up on Trip Advisor I really didn't want to go, it looked really boring and as other PP's have said, Barbados is much better for getting out and about rather than being tied into and AI. As luck would have it, I ended up breaking my leg two weeks before we were due to go which was a bit extreme, but I wasn't sad that I missed the holiday.

When to visit the Caribbean?

I know plenty that do it, and my in-laws were living in St Lucia for a year when we could pop over whenever we fancied, but it gets a bit too humid for my liking by the end of May. Hurricane season is getting less predictable, but still might be an issue in October.

Feb half-term or Easter would be ideal (Christmas tends to be £££ with local/expat travel to hike up prices.

BIWI · 15/10/2024 18:41

April to November is hurricane season @elizabethcharlotte Although Barbados is rarely impacted by hurricanes, it does mean it can be a rainier time of the year. October and March are the times we've generally gone, and have had (mostly) very good weather.

@Soontobe60

I'm surprised to read your view on CB - it's 5 years since I've been and it must have gone downhill since then. We used to swim off the hotel but obviously that's different now.

We went in Feb 2019 so not recent.

It was probably 7/8 years ago we went there.
