I am going to g to Brussels alone for three nights. One day I have something I need to do but I'd love some recommendations for the other day, which could be a Sunday. I like art galleries, good food, love walking and maybe a bit of shopping. Suggestions welcome!
Can anyone can recommend a central hotel up to 260 euros a night?

Oh, I love Bru. The musical instrument museum was really good, and there's loads of stiff on at Bozart ...

The Musee des Beaux-Arts is amazing and there is a Magritte wing which is wonderful.

There are some lovely seafood restaurants. I liked eating at Nordzee I think it's called where they cook outside the fishmongers and you eat delicious fish at stand up tables with a glass of wine.

I love Brussels. Its easy to visit other places including bruges ghent leuven antwerp.

There a museum of musical instruments which might be good.

I liked seeing various areas of the city.

First thing I did was get myself over to the atomium which seems like the archetypal Brussels landmark to me.

I don't know how expensive the marriott is but that's where I stayed and can highly recommend it .

It's not a pretty city like bruges but it is lively and interesting with lots to do. I could easily entertain myself there for 3 days.

Rugbyman II is good for seafood. Plus the Lobster House. Les Petits Oignons (near the Sablon with it's chocolate shops) is good for traditional Belgian dishes. Les Galleries near the Grand Place are lovely. Second the Musee des Beaux Arts and the Magritte museum. There is a roof top cafe on the top of the Musical Instrument museum (which you can visit without paying for entry) that has marvellous views. The art-deco cafes like Cirio and the Falstaff are great for a drink in slightly opulent surroundings. There is also quite a good Beer Museum at the Bourse, also with a great roof terrace. Main shops (other than the tourist ones) don't tend to be open on a Sunday, but Rue Neuve is the main shopping street. Normally the tram journey to Tervuren and the park and African Museum is a lovely one through the forest, but there are lots of works and a replacement bus service at the moment. Rouge Cloitre and the Woluwe Park are nice for some outside space. There is the "chemin vert" between Stockel metro and Woluwe Park which is popular with walkers and cyclists (used to be an old railway line) and you pass Le Vignoble restaurant or can end up at the Brasserie D'Etangs Mellaerts - and then a tram journey back into town from the Tram Museum. At weekends you can get a historic tram for a round tour from there.

Novotel and Ibis Grand Place are both nice and usually a good price. Very good location, near the Grand Place and Central Station.
