Good beaches South of France - Frejus or Cassis?

Hi
I am looking at holidays in the South of France - looking at Frejus and Les Issambres - are the beaches actually sandy there? Alternatively looking West of St Tropez, Bandol, Cassis etc - are the beaches better there? Keep reading mixed things. Kids love a sandy beach! If near Cassis, is there enough there for a teen and two pre-teens?
Thanks.

Cavalaire-sur-Mer is a very family friendly beach town with a 3km sandy beach.

Great, thanks, too many choices in France!

Check out Le Lavandou too, there is a fab long and wide sandy beach there.

The beach in Frejus is also sandy and wide. Lots to do in and around the area for kids of that age. There is an aqua park, Luna Park fun fair, lots of festivals etc, Watersports, nice hikes plus you can get the train for day trips to Cannes/Monaco. I live around 30 minutes away near a big lake where you can hire pédalos/paddleboards etc…

Thé beach at Bandol is Sandy, both hy thé casino and the other end near to the golf hôtel. Bandol always used to be a french ressort. UP near Fréjus there's also St Aygulf which has a nice sandy beach.
Further down towards la Ciotat there's St Cyr and les Lecques which had a wide sandy beach.

@BriocheBriocheBrioche thanks so much - that is actually just what I needed to hear about the beach! I am about to book a villa in Les Issambres which fits most of the bill - near the beach and Frejus where there is scuba diving etc. Have also seen the Lake which looks fab and just something a bit different to do. Love the idea of the train up the coast to to break things up.

@newtb thank you. Looking at Bandol area too with its proximity to Marseille for a day trip. Could be an idea to do two locations for 9 days! Shame Air BNB service fees are so high!

Juan Les Pins is my favourite beach with town attached, and walking distance to Antibes. Beach you need to drive to - Gigaro Plage and L'Escalet, which are between St Tropez and Cavalaire. Or stay in one of the Riviera Villages sites on Pampelonne beach.

@MissAmbrosia Thanks for this - accommodation already limited in Antibes/Juan Les Pins and also v expensive! Will look at Pampelonne. Someone also just told me that last year in the last week of August they had rain which has somewhat dampened my spirits as we were planning 23rd August 😂always something to fret about.

Cassis is lovely! The beach is pebbly though I think but there are nearby beaches that are sandy. Lovely harbor, boat trips, places to eat, calanaques for exploring, places to hike. But it was very hot in July / early August - the beach was actually too hot for me to enjoy that much, even with a beach shelter. The sea is lovely though.

I second Cavalaire. Lovely beach.

For 2025? It won't be all booked up yet, probably too early to book for next year. Though to be fair, August is top season in the South of France - should be cheaper though the last week.

@summershere99 thank you! I hear it’s very hot but hoping it will have cooled (slightly) by end of July.
Whilst I am here, has anyone had a villa with an unheated pool and was it warm? We had an unheated one in Menorca this year and it was freezing! Thanks so much all.
