Anyone visited Agadir, Morocco in December?

DH and I have booked a week's break to Agadir over Xmas. Our 22yr old DS will be coming with us as well. We have pored over the average temperatures for December and they seem to vary depending on the website source. 19/20 degrees seems to be the average.

We don't want, nor do we expect blistering temperatures, but we saw a Jane Mcdonald programme the other night where she was in Morocco in Winter during the day wearing a puffer jacket. This has put us off massively as we do want it to be warm enough to wear shorts during the day and have nice sunny weather. We are not bothered if it drops at night.

We are still in the period where we are able to cancel the holiday and book somewhere else (forfeiting the £160 deposit paid) but only have until the 13th October.

Anyone visited Agadir in December?

I go every year at that time and it's always been around 20-24 in the day but at night I've just worn a light denim jacket. I do think people have different tolerances to heat and cold and most of the locals wear coats but the hardy Brits don't.

I was there at Christmas some years ago. I don't remember it being shorts weather at that time of year. The temperature does get up during the day, but because it is cold at night the air doesn't warm up like it would in summer. Not puffy jacket weather either, but cardigan and long trousers/ dress with top under type weather.

I haven’t been in Dec but I went in April and had bad weather. I was surprised how little there was to do apart from beach stuff. We had a day out to Marrakesh and did a few spa treatments. There’s not a lot to do in the way of museums or places of historical interest nearby. Just one million touristy leather shops.

I think you can have bad weather anywhere so I wouldn’t necessarily rearrange. But make sure you have some activities lined up in case of bad weather. Maybe stick a few board games in your luggage and research day trips.

Thanks! Lots to think about!

"Agadir or Marrakech: the weather
The weather in Morocco is great all year round, which is yet another reason it’s one of the best holiday destinations, for summer fun, Easter fun, or winter fun – head to Morocco! But, Agadir or Morocco?

In the summer months you’ll tend to find that Marrakech will be a few degrees hotter, soaring up to 30, while Agadir will hover in the late twenties. This then swaps around for the winter months, where Agadir will be a few degrees hotter in the mid teens at peak winter, while Marrakech sits in the low teens"

Info from a holidayhypermarket page.

Been in December and it is warm enough In the daytime. Warm enough for kids to swim in the pool (heated) but not quite sunbathing weather, was ok in t shirt and shorts though, it can be quite breezy too.
We've been a few times before so it seemed a bit chilly to me but think that was compared to October time.
Definitely need a jacket in night time and its gets dark relatively early too ( think it was about 7)

Perhaps nothing to do with temperatures, but please reconsider visiting Morocco at all. The amount of blatant animal cruelty I saw was extremely upsetting. I spent a week unable to even look up as I walked about. In this respect, it is very much a third world country and I refuse to put money into its economy.

@Evanted76 did you go in December in the end? What did you think of temperatures?

Hello. I am planning a holiday over Christmas this year and was thinking about Agadir (the Hotel Club Almoggar Garden Beach is looking appealing, so far, in terms of facilities and budget). However, I keep reading things about 'animators' and, having had a nightmare of a time in Antalya a couple of years ago regarding loud and incessant noise everywhere (even at the 'relaxing' places and every time we settled on the beach), I am very keen to avoid that kind of thing. I realise that that was Turkey and this is Morocco, but I have read about noise from hotels in Morocco. The noise in Antalya - in a fairly rural location, not a big hotel area - ruined the holiday as I am very sensitive to noise and just want somewhere I can lie on a beach/by the pool in peace to recover from a challenging year, or do some sight-seeing without 'being entertained'. Can anyone advise, please, before I book and spend hard-earned cash. Thanks!
