Athens February - good idea or no?

Hi,
Considering a few days in Athens in February half-term - anyone been around then? What's it like?

Family of 4, including 2 late teens. One obsessed with Greece/Ancient world etc and would want to spend loads of time exploring historical sites etc. One loves travel, but relatively little interest in historical sites. Thinking the cooler conditions would work well for the enthusiast and might get relatively good value accommodation/places being less busy etc, but I could be completely wrong!

Yes, excellent choice. In the summer months it is unbelievably hot, you'll be able to comfortable explore in February. Take a light raincoat in case. Do not miss the Acropolis museum. If you enter from the South Slope you could do the museum first.

By mid February the temperatures should be from mid teens to early 20s. It’s a lovely time of the year to visit Athens. I visited Athens in early March a few years ago and my scalp got sunburned!

Went this year in feb half term with 2 teens. Weather was hot on the first day. Didn’t need anything other than hoodies thought it did rain on one day so light raincoat required. Hired a car for Delphi - definitely worth it. Also did Poseidons temple as well as all the more local sights. We all loved Athens. Found the people really friendly. Food was fab. Felt very safe. Pop to the top of M&S - free toilet and stunning view!

I just booked February half term flights for a similar historical sites based trip. Any hotel recommendations or ideas about how to go to Delphi?

We went during feb half term, weather was perfect. Windy at top of acropolis, so we needed coats there.

We got hop on hop off bus tickets, which made traversing the city super easy.

One dc very into history, the other dc entertained themselves by admiring all the graffiti and enjoying all the food.

I really like Athens- fantastic authentic meat and fish market and I love the Monistaraki area in particular !! The street that M&S is on is lovely too as well as the historical sites and it's very pleasant down at Glyfada on the coast-there is also a lovely upmarket bar and restaurant area down on one of the bays at Piraeus - not the one the ferry's go from.

I liked the Stanley - fabulous rooftop pool and bar area - but don't book the basic rooms - very basic indeed. The Royal Olympic is nice too- rooms a bit dated but lovely pool area and great for plaka for meals out

I went there for a weekend in December about 20
Years ago and it was colder than London. Needed my big coat.

It's a fun place to go.
