Toddler drinking water in Spain

Hi

We're going to Spain in a few weeks with an almost 2 year old. Has anyone been to the Malaga area and able to recommend low sodium bottled water suitable for toddlers?

Thanks

Evian is very good for babies/young children

Any with the small baby symbol on the back are suitable. We usually buy the small colourful kids bottles with Paw Patrol or similar on, still cheap and encourages them to want to drink.

Thank you both for your advice, that's really appreciated :)

We were on Menorca recently and I got us Font Vella water to drink daily, I believe it is low sodium.

Tap water is fine! Lived in Spain 11 years and survived.

Depends where you are. Our villa had a well and they recommended no tab water for children under 5, it was tested once a week but still.

A villa with access to the mains - most likely absolutely no problem.

A hotel or restaurant may be different, they also often filter the water but I am often careful with tab water and ice myself.

I've always drank the tap water and given it to my dc. For a short holiday any (clean obviously) water is fine anyway

For a 2 year old, tap water! For a baby, bottled, but by 2 I'd definitely be giving them tap water - same as the adults.

I believe that Spanish tap water is completely safe but the minerals in it are different to that in the UK so it might make your stomach a bit upset for a day or two whilst getting used to it.

If I was moving to Spain (or even going for a month) then I would think “fuck it”, drink the tap water, feel a bit dodgy for a day or two and then get on with my life.

But if on a short (often very expensive) holiday I don’t want to lose a day feeling a bit dodgy. I want to feel well enough to windsurf and eat lots of nice food. So I drink bottled or filtered water.

I'd give any bottled water tbh.

We were in Moraira in the summer and there were problems with the tap water. There has been a drought and they were recommending not to drink it.

It happened a few years ago too. We bought huge bottles of Font Vella still water for tea and coffee too, otherwise it tasted vile.

Spanish tap water is perfectly safe to drink, and in Madrid it's very good indeed, but elsewhere it can be full of minerals. It won't give you the runs but it's not very nice.

Any bottled water will be fine. The leading brand is Bezoya. If you get chatting to a Spanish person, ask them if they know any amusing rhymes about it. 😉

Honestly the tap water is so safe, probably much safer than the mineral water due to possible high sodium and plastic residue!
