Anyone been on a cruise? Especially to Norway? Bonus points if you have coeliac disease

So am considering a cruise to the Norwegian fjords. Possibly with L&C though happy to consider other recommendations. Would like it to be child free ship I think.

Any recommendations of which are the nicest stopovers as some cruises seem to have different ones. How much excursion money/extra money are we likely to need? Never cruised before so no idea. We don’t drink so not fussed about a drinks package. Do people buy a WiFi package or is it not really needed as I guess once you hit the Norwegian coast there is 4g???

also worried about cross contamination from a coeliac pov. Is it buffets in which case eating would be a nightmare? To make things harder am vegetarian. Would the ship cope with a vegetarian coeliac as don’t want to starve or spend the week throwing up.

We did the P&O Norway cruise, loved it. We did pay for Wi-Fi because DH wanted to check in with work every day, don’t ask it alway peeved me. There was a woman who was coeliac who we shared a table with one night and she praised them for the menu given to her. It was about 6 years ago. I am allergic to all perfumed products so they boil washed all the linen in the cabin and were great, it’s a serious allergy and they took it seriously.

Pay for a balcony, I wouldn’t cruise with an inside cabin. I remember waking up early and wrapping up with a blanket sitting on my balcony drinking tea as we hit the Norwegian coastline, it was fabulous. We didn’t have the drinks package as light drinkers though we did get DS the soft drinks one.

3 of our family have Coeliac Disease and we did a P&O Fjords cruise in 2018. Done 2 more cruises with them since and have Fjords booked again.

They are hands down my favourite way to travel needing GF. No thought and research is needed on my part into where we can eat safely each day so it feels like a real holiday to me too as opposed to self catering.

Each day at dinner you are given the menu for the next day and you can choose anything off the lunch or dinner menu to be made up gluten free for you. There are obviously some limitations but they’ll substitute anything and mix/match so there are always loads of choices.
If you want to eat in places other than main dining, orders can be sent across or you can choose to pick from available options on the day.

Buffet has GF section and allergens marked. They also have good dessert selections plus wrapped GF cakes/brownies if you ask.

Pool area has GF pizza and GF buns for burgers on request too, fries cooked in separate frier. Honestly I could just go on and on.

Definitely worth a try!

All sounds very reassuring about how seriously they take gluten free which is great. Definitely going to book now.
