Ideas - first abroad holiday with toddler (non-driving)

Hello everyone,

I am looking for advice for first abroad holiday with our DD who next summer will be around 20 months.

Before baby, DH and I mainly went on city breaks. He’s very into museums, and I like a mix of culture/beach, so the ideal was a coastal city e.g. Barcelona/Marseille etc.

Any suggestions for holiday c. 5 nights
-travelling from London
-easy to get around by public transport as we don’t drive
-accessible with a pram

Ideas we’ve had include a Eurostar break to Paris (very easy travel, no airport stress), or a more resort-based holiday somewhere like Rhodes which has both seaside and cultural attractions. We’ve never done a resort holiday before, but I’m wondering if it might be easier with a child having an apartment, pool etc all in one place!

Also any general tips/hacks for travel with a toddler, suggestions of companies to book with, much appreciated!

Thanks 🙂

You could Eurostar to Paris and just book a hotel with a pool?

My 2 (at the time 3 and 1) didn’t cope with having to do anything on holiday. Once we realised this we cancelled all our plans and spent the fortnight by the pool (luckily had a villa). Balearic Islands, lovely. Everyone much happier after this!

I love Eurocamp holidays with kids. But ones near a train station are less easy and I personally wouldn’t do a Paris one with a toddler in the summer just because I’d find trekking around Paris really hot. But if you do ever do a Eurocamp in Paris the Maison Lafitte one is good and on an RER.

I think if I had my time over I’d just book an all inclusive somewhere tbh. Or go to Centerparcs.

Thank you everyone for the recommendations!

@Drivingoverlemons @boulevardofbrokendreamss how did you find the RER trains in Paris with a pram?
