Australian holiday visa question if you've been lately

DD going to Australia for a holiday (about 4 weeks) while she is backpacking. She has filled out e visa online and has permission granted but hasn't paid any money. Google suggests it's free for uk citizens bits she's stressed that she'll be turned away for non payment. Anyone been lately and can confirm it either way for me?

I'm a UK citizen living in NZ. I visit Australia regularly on my UK passport.

An Australia evisitor visa is free.

It's definitely free.

Agee with everyone else, if it’s a tourist e-visa it’s free

Thank you, this was very useful and a relief

Yes, amazingly it's free for Australia. If it was paid-for they definitely wouldn't issue it without first having taken your payment!

New Zealand charges $17 for the e-visa plus $35 for the "International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy". The latter seems a bit cheeky since (a) it's not mentioned until some way into the process and (b) you pay it even if you don't end up travelling (as happened to us during Covid). I wouldn't mind paying an environmental impact if they took it on arrival when you are actually having an impact! (This tax is about to go up to $100 which is £47. But I guess it's still not a lot on top of the airfare.)

The Australian one is definitely free.
