Hi all we want to take dc to Disney land Paris next year. Thinking a Friday to Monday.
They will be 11 and 8.
I apologise if there are lots of threads already (I couldn't find them) but wondered if anyone had any advice about where to stay etc.
Thanks

What's your budget? Have a look at B&B HOTEL près de Disneyland Paris. It’s massive so they always have availability, plus it’s got a free shuttle to and from the parks multiple times a day which only takes 10 mins and in some cases is quicker than staying in a Disney Hotel.

muffledvoice · 14/09/2024 21:00

Ooh following for interest wanting to book next year also

Thanks. We haven't really thought of budget. We've come into some money and would like to spend some doing something with the dc that we wouldn't usually. We usually camp for our holidays. So this would be a massive thing for them.

We usually stay at the Disneyland Hotel as for us it’s worth the cost for the convenience of being really close to the main park . We usually drive as I don’t like flying and like to make the most of our time without being committed to leaving at a particular time . We normally have breakfast in the hotel but don’t take a meal plan .

The Disney cruises look amazing. My friend and her daughter shared their photos taken on board. Magical for the DC’s. Pirate and princess dressing up, ‘characters’ on board etc. They sailed from the UK to Spain, 5 days.

( dependent on how much money you have come into…it is £££s).

Ewock · 14/09/2024 22:16

I saw the cruises and they do look good but we'd prefer the park.
We can get discounted train travel so looking at the eurostar

I recently stayed at the Disneyland Hotel and it was amazing. Expensive but worth every penny imo especially being so close to the park. I had no concerns about leaving my 12yr old in the hotel whilst I popped into the park to watch the firework show for example. However if your budget can't stretch to it, then any of the other hotels are good. Just a slightly longer walk to the park

Phase2 · 14/09/2024 22:23

Ok so just did this again this year, been loads:

Train (Eurostar) goes to Lille and you have to change. The wait time is passed in a small ish station or there's an outlet centre next door.

It's worth, if you are staying in a Disney hotel, going the luggage express - take your luggage up (pre booked) and they send it on to the hotel, you get your entry cards and can go straight to the park.

Marvel Hotel New York is really fresh looking and at the other end of Disney village. Newport hotel is a similar walk. I personally hate Newport Hotel.

Then further away are the others. Some good theming.

Meal plan is good if you eat meals rather than snacks. Vegetarian/vegan is thin on the ground.

There is no supermarket type place in the village or on site so take snacks or buy them .

I would stay on site with anHB meal plan tbh. You get an hour extra before the gen pub get in first thing so an early start but good for some of the queues.

Book through Magic Breaks or Disney holidays

@Ewock We took dc to the Paris Disney for 1 day. We snd they were happy with that. They actually liked seeing Paris! You will arrive in Paris and not seeing anything there is a huge shame. Just do the rail trip out to Disney for a quick fix.

Holly184 · 15/09/2024 02:33

Look at val de Europe . It’s two mins on the train to Disney . Big shopping centre and lots of places to stay / eat.

Blueberryancakes · 15/09/2024 02:58

Hi, I would highly recommend staying at a Disney hotel as you get the magic hours - so only guests staying at the hotels get to go into the parks an hour earlier than other visitors.

We stayed at the Sequoia Lodge hotel. This is a mid range hotel and it was lovely. Food was nice. Rooms were clean and comfortable. It was about 10 minute walk to the parks. It also has a pool which I don’t think any of the others have.

I have previously stayed at the budget hotel Santa Fe and this was also absolutely fine. To be honest you don’t spend that much time in your hotel.

I would get the Eurostar rather than fly only because the train is more comfortable than a plane (personal preference)

Things are expensive so make sure you’ve got plenty of spending money.

You can do pretty much everything in 3 days - we went for 4.

Crushes coaster is a very long wait - I would recommend getting up early and using your magic hours to do that ride.

It’s also a lot of walking so comfy shoes.

Blueberryancakes · 15/09/2024 03:03

We also went to Primark before we went and got some Disney T-shirts to wear while we were over there. My daughter also got a Disney backpack and even some Mickey ears.
Much cheaper than buying it in the parks.
Mickey ears in Primark were £3 compared to over £25 in the parks.

YourTwinklyDeer · 15/09/2024 06:09

We stopped in an air bnb and caught the bus each day, it was about a ten min journey. We took a picnic each day and had tea out in the Disney village. I have previously stopped in the Disney hotels but couldn’t justify the huge cost difference. We flew as well but we are in the North West.

Stirmish · 15/09/2024 06:36

We always booked the Eurostar and Disney cherokee hotel through the Disney website directly

Stirmish · 15/09/2024 06:37

The Magic hours are definitely worth it

rainbowstardrops · 15/09/2024 06:43

Following with interest as I'd love to go to Disney! Not sure the rest of my family would be so keen and we're all adults! Do people go there without young children?
I'd do the whole Minnie ears etc but I can just imagine my family cringing behind me! 😂

Whitewolf2 · 15/09/2024 06:51

We’ve recently booked to go next year for the first time, we did Orlando earlier this year and caught the Disney bug!
Weve booked direct through the Disneyland Paris website for hotel and tickets, I’d suggest looking there to get ideas of prices, and planning to travel on the Shuttle. We’re staying at one of the on site hotels as you get an extra hour in the morning, there are characters to meet and you’re in the ‘Disney bubble’. We’re staying at Newport Beach hotel.

VashtaNerada · 15/09/2024 07:01

Very jealous of anyone who could afford the main Disneyland hotel on site! If you can afford it, that’s definitely the best option. Sequoia Lodge was a good alternative for us. Staff were excellent and it felt lovely and relaxed after a busy day. Shuttle buses were fairly regular and easy to use. Make sure you use the magic hour at the start of the day for any rides with long queues; it’s worth its weight in gold. I’m so pleased we went. The days were long and exhausting and expensive but it’s a memory the DC (and us!) will have forever.

VashtaNerada · 15/09/2024 07:02

Ooh and if you speak basic French it’s apparently slightly cheaper through the French version of the website compared to the English one.

SprigatitoYouAndIKnow · 15/09/2024 10:58

I would love to stay at the disneyland hotel, so would totally do that if the budget allows. We booked restaurants, but then cancelled after the first as we just didn't need sit down 3 course meals. The kids were much happier with McDonald's and a giant Micky shaped doughnut. We stayed at sequoia, which was good to retreat to in the day when it became oversensory. My kids loved being in the pool for a break, then going back to the park.

We went in June outside school hols and there weren’t that many school aged kids but full of adult couples and groups. So yeah!

We started taking ours to DLP and Orlando as very small children , our eldest went first at 18 months . We still go and they are all adults now it is one of my happy places .

Funds just wouldn't have allowed us to do this when mine were little and I'm worried they just wouldn't want to now. My son's girlfriend would definitely be up for it, so maybe she can talk him and my other one around!

Tarantella6 · 15/09/2024 11:14

We went Feb half term. DC had an inset day the Friday before and we took them out of school on the Thursday. We went for 5 nights which sounds excessive but it meant we have done everything we wanted to do and never need to go back!

The Saturday was absolutely heaving, we took one look at the queues and got the RER into Paris for the day instead.

I think it's worth staying on site so you're walking distance if the buses are busy and the early magic hour is a game changer - you can do 3 rides before the park opens and go back for breakfast.
