Christmassy Holiday - Recommendations Please!

We're planning a short European break in December (4 nights) with a 7 year old and a 6 month old. We haven't decided where to go and would love some recommendations!

Requirements:

  • Super christmassy! Lights, christmas food/drink etc.
  • Easily accessible by Eurostar or plane (London airport) + public transport (don't want to drive!).

Not essential (but might be nice):

  • Snow!
  • Ice skating or other christmassy activities.
  • Santa.

Any ideas of where to go (or where to avoid!) would be really appreciated 😁

We did a trip to Centre Parcs De Haan near Brugge with a night in Brussels. Did the Christmas markets in Brussels, Brugge and Ostende. Brugge was very quaint and magical. Was easy by Eurostar. Got a train from Brussels to Belgian coast then the coast tram 10 minutes walk from Centre Parcs. There is a cheap bus from entrance of the centre Parcs to the centre of Brugge. No snow and Santa but plenty of ice rinks.

Strasbourg.

Latvia (Riga). We went last Xmas for the markets, absolute fairy tale city! The Old Town is quite small too and easily walkable in an hour or so. We had plenty of snow! And the locals are lovely. It really was a magical weekend and totally put me in the Xmas spirit. I would go back too.

With 4 days I would choose a town which offers a lot and see the Christmas market as an extra.

Remember that lots are closing on the 23rd, so if you plan it for the school break up, it may get tight.

One word of warning - take a sling/carrier. These markets are a disaster with a pram.

Thank you all, some brilliant suggestions - I'll get researching!

Good tip re: baby sling, thanks!
