Majorca help please!

I'm planning a short break in Majorca next July for my family of two adults and three teens. This is an add on to our main holiday so will likely be there only four or five days.

I don't know Majorca at all. Please could anyone recommend an area that has a few restaurants, shops and a decent beach, but not a full on clubbing area or endless streets of English pubs etc. Just looking for a bit of pool and beach downtime and nice meals out in the evening, maybe a trip into Palma as well. Areas to avoid would also be helpful!

Ideally we'd like to be within 40 minutes taxi ride of Palma, as we're not staying long and won't have a car, we don't want to be spending time and money travelling across the island.

Specific hotel or apartment recommendations would also be very welcome!

Thank you.

Another recommendation for Port de Pollenca, fabulous beach with some lovely hotels.

It is a bit further, but a taxi takes about 45 mins and costs 85€
Bus from Palma takes about 90mins. Old town Pollenca is a 10 min bus trip and it's lovely to spend time in. Alcudia is also just a short bus trip, as is Cala San Vinçent.

Sa coma is lovely the beach is beautiful. However the sun beds and parasols are ridiculously expensive. There are plenty of little shops that sell parasols and sand chairs so I would suggest buying these. We did and saved a fortune

Can Pastilla is lovely and only 5 mins in a taxi from the airport. We have been a couple of times. It has nice beaches, though other areas are probably more picturesque. There are loads of lovely bars and restaurants and a very mixed nationality feel. You don't feel surrounded by British people at all. There is a huge Aquarium and it is amazing. We have been to quite a few in Britain and abroad and this was probably the best. Palma is a 10 minute taxi ride away. It's a great location.

We chose it because we went for short breaks so wanted minimise travel time, but we really love it. We have booked Campos for next for a longer holiday to give a different area a go.

We stayed at the Nautic Hotel and Spa for a specific recommendation.

We just returned from a fab holiday to Majorca and had good recommendations for playa de Murro - the beach is beautiful! Plenty of shops and bars and restaurants if you dont choose All Inc.
Driving from the airport it did to seem to us to be the nicer part of Alcudia.
I don't think you can go wrong with any of the IBerostar hotels and to suit all budgets. I think there are about 4 along the playa De Murro beach area. The transfer about 1 hour from Palma. Just avoid Magaluf!!

Thanks everyone, we've booked Puerto de Soller.

Good choice OP.

You can’t go wrong with any of the resorts mentioned, but P d Soller is especially beautiful

I've stayed at the Eden Nord, was good! Would def recommend booking a room looking over the pool.
