Campsite in Italian Lakes at Easter

We're determined to do next years holiday abroad, but it will be on a shoestring! We are looking at Lake Garda in April. I appreciate it won't be warm, but that's fine for us.

We're looking at campsites where we can stay in a static caravan, Bella Italia is the obvious one but it looks enormous and a bit busy! Does anyone have any other alternatives? A lot of them seem to be closed in April...

We're hoping for lots of nice food, beautiful scenery, and days out in pretty Italian towns. We will hire a car, probably flying into Bergamo with a couple of days there, as well as day trips to Venice, Milan and Moderna for the Ferrari museum!

Any ideas for fabulous days out with two kids gladly received as well 😊

Are you sure they are closed? Or is it just because allcamps or any other broker doesn’t offer any places yet? We’ve been to lake Garda multiple times in April and it is always very busy then. Lots of Germans coming over for easter. We like camping Weekend, they have a pool that is partly heated (like big hottubs). Camping La Rocca is smaller , but nicely situated between Garda and Bardolino, you can reach both on foot. Camping La Piantelle is green and not that big.

Thanks so much, this is really helpful! Camping weekend with heated pools sounds excellent - thank you!

I really wasn't expecting it to be busy in April, thought we'd be the only ones mad enough!

Ferrari museum is quite a drive from lake Garda and it is not that big. And it is quite expensive for what you get! (Because you mentioned shoestring) I’d go to the one in Maranello, which is bigger then the one in Modena. But it is almost a separate trip!

I’d stick to lake Garda and surroundings; hike the Monte Baldo, visit the Limonaia at Limone sul Garda, the castle in Sirmione. Almost every village is worth a visit! Depending on which side you are staying you can do the cities Bergamo, Brescia, Verona,

Another vote for Weekend Glamping - can be booked through Canvas or you can book direct. Lots of different lodge/tent options, nice pool set up, restaurant and bar is good, and open from April. Fun bits for the kids as well - an assault course type area with zip wires. Good location as well, we found plenty to do on the area, but would recommend having a car.

Thanks so much all - I really appreciate it! Del Garda unfortunately does appear to be closed in the first half of April, which is a shame as it looks lovely!

I think we might be pushing more towards Weekend Glamping. @Twoweeksandcounting , which accommodation did you use please? Did you go in April?

@Pootles34 we stayed in one of the lodge tents. We were really happy with it. If you can get one overlooking the lake, it’s lovely. We went in August a couple of years ago, so I’m afraid I can’t comment on what it will be like in April. But based on our August stay, I would recommend for sure

Although I stayed in the Hotel San Marco in Cisano and not the campsite I have linked. The hotel was very sweet.

It’s halfway between Bardolino and Lasize.

There is a bus stop and bus travel was great. You can hide bikes and ride around to Garda which is beautiful.
