Urgently needing advice. Help me book my hotels please.!!
Will be in Malaysia last 2 weeks of December. I already have plans for KL. Bird park, aquarium, petrona towers and have booked my hotel there for 4 nights. I desperately need your recommendations. Where to go after KL and explore. I'm thinking Malacca, Port Dickson

I did want to go to langkawi and pennag.
According to google weather in the east of Malaysia isn't ideal in December.
Thank you

Things to do in Penang (not exhaustive):
Central Georgetown is a Unesco World-Heritage Site with its traditional SE-Asian shophouses and temples, also look out for all the street art.
3D museum, Upside-Down museum - not really museums but cute photo-ops to spend an hour or so in air-conditioned comfort, children love these.
Pinang Peranakan Museum - an actual museum in a stunning old mansion, showcasing the unique Straits Chinese culture of Penang. The museum shop IIRC has a traditional-dress-makeover package, also has a cafe serving some traditional snacks.
Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion - this is the famous blue mansion and is a hotel but also a museum, you need to pre-book if you want to have a tour as a non-hotel-guest.
Clan Jetties - traditional over-the-water homes of Chinese migrant families, everybody goes to Chew Jetty so it is the busiest, try some of the others while you are there.
Penang Hill - get there early as the queues for the funicular can be crazy (do not go at the weekend). If possible (unlikely due to crowds) get a seat at the top or bottom of the funicular, it feels like a roller coaster Grin At the top of Penang Hill, enjoy the stunning views and slightly cooler temperatures. A must-visit here is The Habitat for an easy walk in the rainforest, with amazing elevated walkways and occasional swing seats over cliff-edges.
Tropical Spice Garden - another gorgeous rainforest setting, with added spice/herb plants. swings and a play area. Also a cafe.
Escape Penang - the water park I mentioned before.
Many temples and mosques, if you/DC can stand the humid heat try Kek Lok Si Temple (get a taxi as it is a long way from Georgetown).
Above all, the food, Penang is known as the food capital of Malaysia.

Things to do in Langkawi (not exhaustive):
Mangrove/island hopping/eagle feeding tour - this is a very enjoyable boat tour, speeding over the waves between destinations. Some packages include a visit to a bat cave. There's also usually fish-feeding and sometimes lunch at a fish farm.
The cable car and walkways - stunning views over the islands, sea and forest. The cable car base station is an "oriental village" which is a bit of a kitsch tourist trap, but has various kid-friendly things like another 3D-museum (IIRC).
Telaga Tujuh waterfalls - a bit of a climb through the forest, for the reward of seven natural pools to cool off in. And an over-the-cliff platform to stand on.
There are numerous stunning beaches all with different "characters" so it can be fun visiting a different one each day.
IME the Malay and southern Thai food in Langkawi is excellent.

We stayed in the Danna in Langkawi and it was amazing and would give it a 5/5 - the best staff ever and as much Prosecco as you want at breakfast!!!

If this is not too late, we recently stayed in Shangri La Rasa Sayang in Penang. Highly recommended. Good family room (sometimes hard to find), excellent pool area. Beach is small though. Good food.
Much nicer than the Shangri La Golden Sands resort down the road, which looked fairly chaotic and busy when we walked through it.
We booked a taxi through the hotel to go to Georgetown at 40RM/hour (less than £8). Minimum of 4 hours, but they drove us round all day so very easy to see everything.
But for beaches, Langkawi is far superior.
