Toddler flight - ears

When we’ve flown with DS (21 months) we’ve given him a bottle of milk during take off/descent to help his ears from becoming painful.

He now just drinks from an open cup or a couple of mouthfuls from a bottle. Any suggestions of something I can do to help him if his ears need to pop? He is too young for sucky sweets and I don’t think he’d understand if I told him to swallow.

Like you try a water bottle with a spout and a nice tasting drink in it?

We give my dd some chocolate, the only place she’s allowed to have some lol, I choose normally the Kinder bueno kind as it’s soft inside.

Airdrate ear buds

I hadn’t heard of these but they look great. They’re age 6 up so a bit of a wait till DS can use them though.

Thanks, we may well do that. I imagine chocolate buttons would go down well.

Anything that is chewy would help. You can also give him a dose of calpol beforehand. He might be completely fine though.

Children’s EarPlanes are suitable from 1 I think. At least we used them from about that age after breastfeeding was no longer an option. They do really work well

Carton of apple juice, fruit shoot, smoothie or yoghurt pouch (Ella’s make 90ml ones that don’t need refrigeration) are my usual go-tos. It has to be nice enough that they’ll want to chug it but not be over super quickly so they’ll get relief for the whole take off/descent.
