Holiday in March- Hot suitable for first holiday

AllHisCaterpillarFriends · 04/09/2024 13:44

Can anyone recommend a location - not hurricane season, hot (so I guess not Europe) and resort style or easy transport (no driving) for my 19 year old DD and her boyfriend.

I've never even left England so not really able to help. They have been saving and have £1k each so far, looking for 2 weeks.

Thank you

The Canary Islands are a good choice

Sallysoup · 04/09/2024 13:57

If not Marrakech then Egypt or Cape Verde might suit.

I agree but depends what OP thinks is "hot" it could still be low 20's in March.

cheezncrackers · 04/09/2024 14:14

Depends on budget OP, but UAE is good in the UK winter for reliably hot weather and as long as it's out of school holidays there are some really cheap deals usually. Not only Dubai - there are 7 emirates in total and the less well known ones can be cheaper.

longdistanceclaraclara · 04/09/2024 14:15

How much are they hoo on g to save?

longdistanceclaraclara · 04/09/2024 14:15

? Hoping to save

AllHisCaterpillarFriends · 04/09/2024 14:53

Thanks all. Certainly can both save another 1K, maybe a bit more.

Thanks for tips so far, will look into all. Not sure about UAE for my daughter.

To add, neither really drink at all and happy to self cater, but also open to some form of board

Mayan Riviera, Mexico?

AllHisCaterpillarFriends · 04/09/2024 22:30

Mexico seems like a good option. Also looking at Riu hotels

Also where do people book?

@AllHisCaterpillarFriends Look at operators like TUI. They will have options. For first time, book via a travel company. Don’t split flight and hotel by booking separately as this isn’t a package and they will not get money back if the flight is cancelled. They need a package as defined by ABTA.

I would not rule out Dubai (can be expensive in March due to horse racing). There’s plenty to do and lovely hotel pools. For me, a week is enough! You might get self catering in Barbados. It wilL stilll be high season though. Mexico could work too. Not hurricane season - that’s August to November

PoopedAndScooped · 05/09/2024 02:13

All inclusive in Mexico - Atleast 4 star
Look at big hotels with entertainment, multiple swimming pools, and restaurants
Different bars, Private beach

TizerorFizz · 05/09/2024 02:35

@PoopedAndScooped You do not need all of that for a great holiday! I’ve been happy with one pool. Separate play area for dc is a plus. All the extras add to the price and 4 stars can mean very little in terms of overall quality.

I didnt say you ‘need’ all of that for a great holiday!
That was my ‘opinion’
Which is what has been asked

Just the same as you are happy with ‘One pool’ and separate play area for the kids

‘Extras do add to the price but they have £2K each so will be fine

And again in MY view, all the 4 and 5 star hotels i have stayed in, in Mexico, Cape verde, Morocco and Egypt have been outstanding
They have been amazing and they have all had private beaches, multiple swimming pools, multiple bars , swim up bars, Sports bar, beach bar, multiple restaurants including restaurants such as Italian, Spanish, Turkish which you can have two visits in each for example
So you can be at a different pool, a different restaurant and a different bar every day which I enjoyed.

Its my OPINION

Canary Islands are your best bet if not long haul. I went to Gran Canaria in March once. It was about 25 wvhch felt very warm coming from the uk.

Whodrankmytea · 05/09/2024 07:47

Mexico

FrenchandSaunders · 05/09/2024 07:51

Tenerife. Costa Adeje, some lovely hotels around there.

Henleylady · 05/09/2024 07:53

A Tui AI holiday to Mexico fits the bill - go for 10 days minimum. Lots of options for day trip tours - though they are quite pricey as aimed at the spendy Anerican market. Other than trips they won't need to spend anything. The Mexico resorts are fab with great food and facilities. Get a big one with lots of pools and bookable restaurants as well as buffet includes in AI.

I’d check the Foreign Office advice on going to Mexico before booking.

ScribblingPixie · 05/09/2024 08:46

On the Mayan Riviera, all-inclusive is how you get the best deal and choose the hotel carefully as some, especially in Cancun, have a big party atmosphere (US style) while others are very peaceful. Read all the reviews to find one that suits your style. You can rent a car while there though tour reps will do their best to get you onto the expensive bus tours.

Bbqnights · 05/09/2024 09:56

Mexico for sure. Lovely hotels, great food, cheaper than the Caribbean islands. It's one of those places I'd go back to again and again. TUI will have loads of choice at different price points.

The tour operators don't operate to destinations that the foreign office have advised against travelling to. Cancun and surrounding areas are as safe as anywhere.

That’s good to know.
