Hi everyone.

Looking for a 2 week holiday in January / February time. 2 adults and my (then will be 4) year old DD

Any recommendations? Budget is around 6-7k.

Also, would you recommend AI?
Open to other suggestions too for different countries. Would like beautiful beaches, hot weather (mid to late 20s) clear water, nice food etc. the usual.

Thank you.

Oh I see - but those are quite normal really - VAT is one of them, its 12.5% service (which is often added to bills here) and the 2.5%, which I assume is a tourist tax.

There have been increasing and additional charges on tourists to Barbados and other Caribbean islands from the " good old days". That's my point.

And one last thought; not sure about weather that time of year but Mauritius? Haven’t been, but there’s a very small time difference to the UK and I’m sure I’ve seen deals in that budget x

We’ve been told Mauritius is cheaper than the Caribbean too.

That's where I'm gearing towards now after this thread! I'm aiming to book by EOW so I'll let you all know!

Very excited. March isn't a million miles away.

After a grotty few years of a cancer battle (sorry for my pitty party) I really can't wait to get some good sun, good food and some family time. We haven't been away for ages due to this so managed to save so we're splurging. Why the hell not.

I haven't been to Mango Bay, but it's a sister hotel to the Island Inn, which we have been to a couple of times. There, the food is great and the staff are amazing - so hopefully Mango Bay is similar!

Mango Bay is a great location smack bang in the middle of Holetown. Check the reviews I think roadside rooms may be noisy so you want sea view. Great snorkelling just outside plus you can walk to Tides, The Beach House and Just Grillin plus the Chattel House village and Massys all opposite.

Barbados is a total dream. Absolute best place in the world.

I'm going to Dominican Republic tor the third in February and three of us are less than £4K. That's all inclusive.
We are going for a week but 2 weeks wasn't that much more.

I realise I sound very spoilt but DH was a travel agent so we hot good deals. We've been self-catering in Barbados AI in St Lucia, Antigua and the DR.

I think Barbados was my favourite but that may have been because we met the locals and saw Rihanna before she became famous.

Next year we're considering going back to either Barbados or St Lucia or perhaps Grenada

The DR is a totally different experience from the smaller formerly British Caribbean islands.

My friend's son and GF went to the DR. The bus from the airport broke down and it had to be surrounded by armed guards till it could be fixed in case they were attacked. It totally put them off and were terrified to go anywhere after that.

Don't know if that's pretty typical.
