Hi all, so we're looking at going Lapland 4th Dec next year-we get thermal snowsuits and boots included in our booking but has anyone got any advice of what essentials I need to keep my then 9 & 5 year old warm epically at night -apart from the obvious gloves, hats, scarves jumpers, coats etc!

Thanks in advance I've never been to a cold country in winter before!

I slept with the window open when I went (same dates you have!) because the room was so toasty. Honestly it’s very easy to overpack but there’s no need. Plenty of layers, but unless you’re sleeping in a tent you’ll be very warm indoors!

Get some hot hands hand warmers. They can be put inside mittens and boots to keep fingers and toes warm in the daytime. But - more importantly- keep one next to your phone/camera as the cold discharges batteries very quickly.
We went later in December- 18th I think - and it was -18. Without it we would have had no photos

Check reviews for where you’re staying to see if it mentions the cabins being particularly cold - I’d expect they’ll have excellent heating facilities. We had about a foot of snow at least, I was worried it might be too early in the season but it was perfect.

The reviews say the cabins are cosy and warm just wasn't sure if they'd need anything extra to sleep if it's really cold outside

You can buy hand and foot warmers to put in socks and gloves. They are brill
We went few years ago. It's an amazing holiday. Also bring snacks. Loads and loads of warm socks. We had.thermals outer layer and snow suits and we were snug. Took a snug for around neck and those things that cover your face. It can be cold if wind blowing in your face on reindeer rides and huskies. Enjoy

I've stayed in the log cabins and they are so warm so you don't need anything extra to sleep in.
