Holiday without kids

Hi everyone. Looking for some reassurance. Going on holiday without our two kids for a few nights. My 2 year old is in the I want mummy and don’t like it phase. We’ve mentioned to him that we are going away but he will be having a fun sleepover with nanny and grandad. Have we done the right thing by mentioning it or any advice how to navigate it? Really worried that when going to bed or waking up in the night, he’s super upset Thank you

He might get upset, yes, but he'll get over it and I definitely think you've done the right thing by giving him some warning and trying to explain as best you can so that he doesn't think you've deserted him for ever!
Perhaps FaceTime twice a day and help make a little chart with all the days and sleeps drawn out with symbols as to when you're going and when you're coming back. And he can cross off the days until you're back with help from Nanny and Grandad.

Have to be honest, as a granny I would cope with a night or two of “super upset” but would find much more than that very difficult.

Ooo the chart is a good shout. Thank you so much ☺️

From personal experience I found FaceTiming wasn't a good idea. My kids were absolutely fine when I left them but FaceTime reminded them of me and they did get a bit upset.

I know! We are worried and booked it at a real low point and now regretting it

Yeah, we thought that. Told my mum to call us if he asks to and see how we get on with the first time and take it from there. Hard to know how he will react. Not worried about my 11m, it’s the 2 year old
