Everytime I've been abroad the hotels state heated pools, they never are! Went away this year in April and it was so cold 🥶 my little boy came out blue it was ridiculously cold!

Looking for next year and would love it if someone could tell me they've found a genuinely heated pool abroad.

Thanks!

The Mediterranean just isn't all that reliably warm until late May. Even if you get a nice warm day, a lot of the heat escapes to space overnight, and a pool will be only a degree or two ahead or behind the average air temperature. Also, not that many people want to swim in pools because there isn't all that much heat to cool off from. In the whole of Majorca there are about 10 heated outdoor pools, and most of those don't open until late April, with heating in May and October. It just isn't economical to install the equipment and run the heating. By July people are sometimes complaining that the pool is too hot...

Of course lots of places have an indoor pool as part of a spa, but children often aren't allowed there. You can also go to the nearby municipal pool (which there are a lot of, in Spain at least), but they might not serve swim-up cocktails.

We went to Egypt it was boiling and one of the pools was heated - there was no need it was like a very very warm bath 😂

aequora lanzarote suites have heated pools!

This is interesting I've been looking at there for October half term or maybe Easter holidays, is it as nice as it looks?

In April assuming Europe you'll probably need a villa and pay to heat the pool. It's off season and not worth heating financially.

April is very early and even when "heated" most Spanish hotels only heat to 25C which isn't enough IMO.
We went to Lanzarote in April once with teenage DC who live in the water and it was freezing. Ruined the holiday. We go all year round now DC have left home but I wouldn't venture in a pool until July in most places.

That is normal UK Leisure centre pool temperature.

And those always feel cold too!

For heated pools you really need campsites, especially in France. (They rent out mobile homes and cabins too, some of them very posh).

We went to this one 20 years ago and it was great then - looks even better now. Water park heated from April onwards

I'm a grandad to three kids and happened to spot these posts around heated pools in winter. Basically, it's not a thing. The hotel's don't make it very clear but when do actually get to make contact with them they, up to now, all say that they don't heat their outdoor pools in winter. I'm particularly focused on February 26 half term as it's a lovely way to break up what can be a grim time of year and you can get 20plus temperature wise. We're only 30mins from Gatwick and it's roughly the same to the Fuengirola area from Malaga airport. So far, so easy, and relatively cheap. But what d'you do with the kids that's not going to cost a fortune for a week? Answer; chuck them in the pool. Problem-it's too cold. And if it's too cold for them, how am I going to join in? It must be so expensive to heat a large pool with the overnight temperature losses that none of them would think of doing it. Perhaps they're all missing a trick and someone should offer it as a trial, I'd go. I think they get the bookings anyway so why add to their costs when enough people are going anyway? So here's the answer-which I'm slightly reluctant to give away for obvious reasons-but has already been suggested previously. If we're talking about the area I've described as a guide-Mijas Villas is the go to. The prices are not unreasonable, you get your own space, and you can pay to have the pool heated for the week for about 200 quid. To me, considering what you might spend keeping kids occupied for a week othewise, it's a no brainer. I hope this stops at least one person wasting their time looking for outdoor heated pools in winter generally unless you're Brad Pitt when money, time and effort might not be a barrier.
