First holiday abroad with 15 month old

hi! We are flying to Greece in a few weeks with my 15 month old and will be her first time flying. Our flight is at 3pm so she’ll need dinner and probably a bottle during that time. Any tips on what I could give her or will there be something on the plane she can have? (Jet2). Also wondering how I can get cows milk on the plane, will the staff just fill her bottle for me if I ask?!

TIA and any other plane/holiday tips welcome please!

You can bring your own milk on board in a flask or bottle - babies are except from the liquid rules

The onboard menu is on their website, I think you’ll probably need to take a cold dinner for her. Milk on the planes tends to just be those little pots for tea and coffee, I doubt they’d be able to fill a bottle for you with fresh milk so you’ll need to take it (check security rules)
or buy once you’re land side at the airport.

We waited till we got past security airside then went to Starbucks and asked them to fill her bottle with fresh cold milk. Think they charged us about £1 or a nominal amount

I'd take a picnic type dinner for her, take your own milk, and more than you think you need. Also take LOADS of baby snacks. It really helps with the boredom of flying!

You can take milk on the plane. I put oat milk (cmpa) in baby bottles and have no issues passing though security. I also did a boots click and collect order to collect from the terminal of baby food and snacks. To feed on the plane and as backup meals whilst abroad (due to cmpa).

A few other tips

  • take a sling/carrier to carry baby on/off the plane. As often your pushchair won't be at the gate on arrival and will be in baggage reclaim.
  • have spare clothes for all on the plane.
  • If your baby uses a dummy use this for take off/landing. If not get them to drink during this time as it helps with their ears.
  • I had new toys for the plane to keep them entertained and would bring a new one out every 15-20 mins
  • If possible delay a nap till on the plane so then you can have part of the journey with baby asleep (good to use sling/carrier for this too)
  • Also guessing it will be near or past bedtime once you land and have gotten bags. So I would change into pjs/sleep clothing (depending on temp) prior to transfer from the airport incase your lucky enough that they fall asleep and then transfer to bed.
  • a sunshade for pushchair is good for naps in the pushchair. My eldest would sleep in her pushchair in the evening too whilst we had dinner/drinks then transfer to bed. My youngest 2 would never do this though.
