Cannes and St Tropez for mere mortals

We have a holiday booked next August near Cannes and St Tropez. Well, within 30 mins drive or each.

Has anyone been who isn't super rich? We have a good budget but aren't loaded.

We have things like Aqualand and a big lake to visit.

There is a massive shopping centre too which my daughter is already saving up for!

When visiting Cannes and St Tropez and even Monaco is it easy enough to find somewhere to eat and drink that aren't ridiculously expensive?

We will hire a car but will also do some train travel between the big places.

Has anyone here been and can offer any tips or advice?

Went to Nice to see the TDF (mid July). Did day trips to Cannes/Monaco/Antibes. Also Ventimiglia across the border into Italy.

Plenty of reasonably priced places to eat. But the crowds and the trains🤦🏼‍♀️worse than the London tube commute, and all in +30 heat! August is much worse..

Would definitely go back in quieter and cooler months though.

Getting a train ticket was a mission too, station rammed and queuing at ticket machines. Definitely ask staff to help you, there are different ticket prices.

I'm understand we can book train tickets on Trainline.com?

@spottedinthewilds yes you can do it in advance, I'm sure it's slightly more money but at least no hassle at the station.

Very jealous I may add..even with the heat/crowds!!
