What would be a nice place for a young couple and a 15 month old to stay in the UK? Budget of around £1.5k

So far the only idea I have is centre parcs or is this the best option? I've never been before.

Thank you xx

You mean a holiday ?
Staycation is staying at home.

Centre Parcs is incredibly expensive.
Unless either of you work in a school, presumably you will go out of Peak time, and would be able to get a cottage or lodge or similar for much less money.

As to where, it depends where you are starting from. It's going to be easier to have a shorter journey., so, suggesting Devon if you live in Northumberland won't be helpful.

Can you give a rough area you are starting from ?

Sorry I thought staycation was the term for holidaying in the uk. My bad! And unfortunately I am a teacher so would be school holidays. We live up north in Lancashire

What about anywhere on the North Wales coast, or Anglesey ?

So many beautiful beaches. Lots of history, especially castles if that's your thing. So many places to walk - or cycle if you do. Not too far.

Personally, I'd go to Midlothian/Borders area then do some kiddie fringe shows in Edinburgh and you could do the tourist stuff like the castle and old town. You could visit portobello beach, Dalkeith country park. Cheaper to stay outside Edinburgh but close enough to go to the fringe. If you park in Ingleston then used the tram it is very cost effective.

A nice holiday cottage or caravan park.

Anglesey or NW Wales.
Perhaps Haven - Hafan Y Mor or New Quay

Self-catering cottage anywhere you’d like to visit. It’ll come way under £1.5k which will leave you plenty for meals out, take-aways, attractions etc.

Places I’ve enjoyed that sort of holiday recently: Alnwick; Coniston; Skipton; Bakewell.

I’ve used Sykes Cottages and holidaycottages.co.uk but there’s loads of others.

I'd look for one of those small cottage complexes which have a pool, usually a small playground and some farm animals.

Or Featherdown Farms

Dumfries and Galloway is nice and not too much drive for you. Go see the red kite centre. I loved Kirkcudbright. Take your dc to the children's literature museum in Dumfries for an interesting place to play.

Bakewell is another lovely option. Day out at chatsworth and visit the farm and play area and garden (maybe not the actual house with a 15mo)

Go to the Bakewell pudding shop.

Heights of Abraham is a good day out with dc.

Hire bike with trailer for dc and ride the monsal trail. Get breakfast or lunch at the station cafe.

The parks in Bakewell and matlock are lovely. Matlock will be fun to play. They have little train and a splash pool.

There's a deli in the centre of bakewell that does fab food, especially the pork pies.

There's also a restaurant called I think the sawmill that's very nice does normal food and pizzas and nice 2 for 1 cocktails!

Crich tramway village is 45mins away for another day out. Or go for a walk parking at national trust
