bed or travel cot for dd age 2 on holiday?

Just tested her travel cot and she's nearly the same length as it. We're staying in a Villa with tiled floors and rooms with twin beds and a double bed.
At home she's still in her cot. Anyone had similar situation on holiday? If she has to go in a bed, should I do a single bed with chairs against it?
It's started to make us worry and is overshadowing the holiday.

Does the villa have a cot they can provide?

Hi Puffling, I've got the same sort of problem. DS is still in his cot (22 months) and we are going on holiday in September. I requested a cot in the hotel room but travel co. said that because he will be 2 he will be classed as a infant and the hotel are not obliged to supply a travel cot, as they take the view that he should have a bed. Anyway I saw that Argos are doing a thing called My First Bed - looks like a blow up mattress idea. Maybe you could get that just in case, at least you wouldn't have to worry about dd falling out of bed and hurting herself. Think it was £29.99.

They're providing a travel cot, but I don't think she'll fit.

Thanks Alibobster, I'll looka t Argos.

My dd learnt how to escape from a travel cot long before she was two. Blow up bed might be safer, not as far to fall

Buy one of those bed guards. guard
You can get a cheap one on e-bay that folds down into your suitcase. Play it up/sell it to her, make it into a big thing," when we go on holday... this will have to happen, now big girl... what do you think" = she might love it.

Just put the mattress on the floor. Problem solved.

We've got an Aerobed which we put on the floor (on top of a blanket or quilt to make sure there are no sharp bits to puncture it, although it seems pretty sturdy). The sides are raised so it's hard to roll out of, and it's light enough to carry as hand luggage (to avoid the nightmare of losing it in hold luggage!)

Why not just take the mattress off the hotel bed? Then you don't have to carry anything with you?

puffling · 17/04/2008 13:15

Yes we possibly will take mattress off bed.
Do you think she'll take to it, being so used to the cot? What's anyone else's experience?
