Two days in Paris with 3DDs

We have booked Paris for a long weekend and have a couple of full days and 1 half day so looking for fun and interesting things to do. 3DDs 12, 13 and 15. Unfortunately they don't really appreciate looking at architecture and more active and enjoy shopping. Currently thinking either open top bus tour and boat trip, walk to Eiffel Tower but hoping for some more ideas.

Thank you!

Monmartre. Always worth it. Boat trip. Primtemps - shopping and a beautiful shop. Find Rue Cambon and Chanel. Window shop at Hermes. Have a cake at Fauchon - look at the displays! Best food shop.

Musee D’Orsay. Easy to look at Art. They ought to have some culture! Look at the Olympics for ideas of streets and vistas. Palais Galliera fashion galleries. Or Museum of Decorative Arts.

Go to Place Vendome. It is lovely. Look down Champs Elysee from Arc de Triomphe.

Go for a walk on the left bank. Still interesting. Or Le Marais. DD is a huge fan of the Louis Vuitton Fondation(Foundation) - something completely different!

There’s a funfair on this summer in Bois de Boulogne.

Are the Olympics and Paralympics still on whilst you are there? Be aware that some tube stations and walking routes are closed.

You need to book for the Louvre and Musee D’Orsay.

Petit Palais is free (except the sports exhibition) so worth an hour or two if you want a bit of culture. You can walk from
there up to the Champs Elysees for fancy shopping. There’s a Westfield at La Defense.

I am taking my 13yo dd soon, she hates museums.

We are planning a day at Disney and then Eiffel Tower and an open top bus tour.

She also wants to go to the Jellycat Pattisserie at Galeries Lafayette.

Catacombs looks really good but she has refused to do that and as it's a break mainly for her she's calling shots really!

I think we will end up wandering, shopping and eating.

I was there much of last week until Saturday and echo a pp who asks whether the Olympics/Paralympics are on while you’re there — the bridges are mostly closed to foot and motor traffic, and some connections at métro stations aren’t possible, so it’s much more difficult to move around centrally.

SheilaFentiman · 06/08/2024 14:49

@Bastide some of the bridges reopened to foot traffic post the opening ceremony, but the Paralympics may have a similar set of closures, not sure of the plans

At that age we did the musee d'orsay, the military museum, notre dame (pre fire), napoleons tomb, rented model boats to sail in the park, went up Eiffel Tower and went to a classical concert in a church. Mine aren't bothered by shopping thankfully.

What’s wrong with enjoying shopping?

We did something similar to this a few years ago - it was brilliant!
