The Grove, nr. Watford in Hertfordshire.
They're very plush, fab with kids (there's also a kids club/pool). Babysitting if you want a meal with DH. Beautiful grounds.

Febes · 14/04/2008 19:27

Oh I want to know of a place like that too.

Janni · 15/04/2008 17:48

Bump

I don't want all the responsibility on my shoulders!!! There must be other places too?
What part of the country are you in?

hifi · 15/04/2008 17:58

www.fawsleyhall.com
havent been since they installed pool/spa but was lovely.

CantSleepWontSleep · 15/04/2008 18:08

Centerparks?

mumma2cjh · 15/04/2008 21:26

The Grove looks great and very child friendly. Not sure about Fawsley Hall - not a good child friendly feel to it but does look an amazing place. We live in Nottm so have done CP's to death!!!! HAS to be child friendly for 1 x 3 year old!!!

gotta be Bedruthan Steps, looks pants from the outside and they used to have adults only policy in the restaurant (whether that has changed since the McCann thing I don't know) BUT has a lovely spa, fantastic sea views and good childcare and excellent facilities to keep kids happy.

Longway from anywhere though unless you're already in southwest

Whenever we go to visit my family in the Midlands we stay in a Village hotel - we've stayed in the Dudley one and the Walsall one so far. The Dudley one is near Dudley Zoo which would make a good day out for your 3yo too. They are very much chain hotels, from the outside. The food isn't brilliant but is passable. I'm not selling it very well so far... but what makes the difference is that the staff have always been great with the kids and the pool is lovely too. My boys (6 and nearly 4) have loved it each time we've been to visit. If you book on laterooms you might get a good deal for the weekend.

Evesham Hotel - slightly wacky, but in a nice way! don't let the website put you off

wingandprayer · 15/04/2008 21:48

Woolley Grange near Bath - fab hotel, childcare - some of which was free, home made afternoon teas, lovely kids food but kids free restaurant with baby listening in evening, so ideal ofr your situation. Not cheap, but worth every single penny It's been a while since we were there so please check all of this is still true!

Calcot Manor is fantastic!

Stayed at the Low Wood Hotel in the Lake District recently and really enjoyed it. We paid a little bit extra to get a split level room which was great cos it meant we could carry on watching telly etc after the dcs were asleep without disturbing them. It's much, much more reasonably priced than a lot of Family Friendly hotels and had stunning views, an activity centre, a pool and v near lots of lovely things to do for children and grown ups like Beatrix Potter World, get a ferry across Windermere and go to the Acquarium of the Lake etc. Someone on here reccommended it.

giddybiddy · 20/04/2008 17:33

Have a look at luxury family hotels, mumsnetters get discount - or used to - and they are v child friendly yet in the evening you can have a nice romantic evening and use baby listening or get a siter. We've been to Ickworth and Moonfleet former is more luxurious and latter in great location. Both have creche and pool!

RainingCatsandDogs · 24/04/2008 22:35

Not been but here this guide is a good source normally. Also info about Woolley Grange.

willali · 28/04/2008 13:08

I second the vote for Ickworth - have just booked second visit there for October half term. Pool, cycles, listening, fab food for grown ups, creche, spa - everything you want really, at a price mind you...

barbamama · 04/05/2008 00:17

just to second some of these, we've been to both Calcott Manor and Bedruthan Steps and would thouroughly recomend both for child friendliness plus good relaxing break for the parents. sorry about spelling, tired.
