After much deliberation going to Oxford with my mum and 12 year old daughter for a few days. So far olans are escape room, ashmolean, botanic gardens and seeing evensong. Does anyone have any other reccomendations? Was wondering about places to eat and perhaps a boat trip? My daughter is veggie

I'd recommend the Chiang Mai Thai restaurant. It's by far the best we've been to. It's down an alley so not the easiest to find . We went on a boat tour and it was fun and informative.

Chiang Mai has been in Oxford for decades. Yes, great option. Vaults and Gardens is in St Mary’s church so handy for Bodleian. Just close to the Sheldonian is the “bridge of sighs” belonging to Hertford College.

I'd visit Magdalen College and maybe walk down to Christ Church and then the meadows and along the river by the boathouses.

I used to live in Oxford and go back once a year to do as many of the things on this list as I can. I'm thinking of moving back there and this thread is really focussing my mind! The only spanner in the works is the cost of it. I am mourning the loss of the Nosebag vegetarian cafe and Boswell department store as you never know when you will need lavender talcum powder and a cagoule!

@Ginfa I've nothing to add to the great suggestions upthread and you will find no problem with staying outside or on the edge of the city as the buses are frequent and there is an app that covers journeys on the two main bus companies operating with flexible ticketing options. The train to Oxford Parkway from Marylebone is great with lots of buses running to the centre through north Oxford.

A trip to the basement of Blackwells is always worth it just for the sheer size of it. Little Clarendon Street has some nice cafes etc. Another vote for Scriptum in Turl Street for lovely stationery. I also love Arcadia in St Michael's street for cards. I realise your trip isn't all about retail therapy of course! I hope you enjoy it.

Two theatres in Oxford, perhaps see what’s on there. There’s also a Natural History Museum which is excellent, quieter than the nation one in London as well.
pastime I was there I went to Fernando’s Brazilian Cafe, it was lovely, I’m not sure what veggie options there were though.
