First Eurocamp style holiday recommendations

Hi

DS starts school in Sept so starting to think about next years summer holiday without the term time prices 😭

I had lots of fab Eurocamp holidays 25+ years ago and unsurprisingly a lot seems to have changed since then!

Looking for specific site recommendations for a family of 4 (DC will be 3 and 5)

We live in the south east so ferry and drive is an option, but wouldn't want a huge drive in France for the first time so something 3/4 hours from the port. Open to flying as well but would probably add car hire to be able to explore a bit.

Looking for good kids facilities but also some food and drink options as I'd like not to cook every night. Close to a sandy beach would be great and maybe a local trip or two.

Doesn't need to be Eurocamp exactly so also any other companies you would recommend booking through. Would be really helpful if we could pay it in instalments between now and next summer.

This thread is a little old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you've landed here looking for eurocamp holiday recommendations, we've recently updated our best eurocamp sites page with lots of great options, as tried and tested by Mumsnet users. We hope you find it useful. 💐

We love Brittany for Eurocamp style holidays. Eurocamp has bought out most of the companies so not much competition now. I usually check what sites are on Eurocamp/Canvas website then we take a tent or book direct which is usually cheaper. We’ve just had a week in the Carnac area which was great. Sheltered beaches, pretty turns and villages, lots of places to eat out.

We’ve done Duinrell in the The Netherlands twice which was more expensive but amusement park and amazing pool included. Really nice little town close by fur eating out and beach not far away.

Les Mouettes is our favourite if we don’t want to do too much driving,

I'm at Capfun Falaises now and it's great. It's in Normandy about 3 hours drive from Calais. The pool is fantastic.

Lots of day trips possible from here and we went to the beach in Houlgate yesterday which was great.

Les Grandes Metieres (sp?) in Carnac is a great site. You could also consider the overnight ferry to St Malo - you land in the morning so can easily get to La Rochelle or near there without too long a drive
