Help help with love holidays

My daughter and granddaughter together with her friend and her child booked a 10 day holiday apartment selfcatering iwith swimming pool in Rhodes which was in there budget , this was booked at least 10 month ago,
Now within the last few weeks they have been informed that due to there sister company going bust the holiday has been canceled, however not to worry says love !
We will find you equivalent ,
Now it is 2 weeks before holiday , love has been back with alternate stays

First one had no pool . Which was a must with children ,
2nd offer was out in the sticks again no pool
3rd offer they checked reviews and had so many bad reviews plus situated in a noisy area of Rhodes

4th was a fully inclusive very nice area and good reviews , but love wanted £600 extra this amount was way over there budget and would eat into there spending money ,
However they reluctantly agreed after borrowing the extra from family ,
Now love has got back to them and raised the price to £900 !! Yes £900 this is now taking the p**s , no way can they afford this
Ok a refund is possible but where do you get a holiday within 2 weeks bearing in mind how long would it take to recieve money !!

It has made both really ill and stressed to the hilt , instead of getting exited it has brought them right down , ok it probably could go to ABTA but they have 2 weeks only
Any advice please

I'd get the refund and spend my money elsewhere. The refund won't take that long to process. Something will come up within their budget, it's bound to.

FrenchandSaunders · 28/07/2024 15:12

I think an extra £600 for all inclusive for 4 people is reasonable. Surely they’d have needed that much to self cater? £900 is pushing it though

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 28/07/2024 15:15

£900 for 4 = £225 p.p. for all inclusive instead of self catering.

I find holidays go up in price weekly.

so they either take the refund, and find a last minute deal
or they accept this latest suggestion
or they ask for another suggestion

Roselilly36 · 28/07/2024 15:18

Yep, I agree take a refund and book a last minute deal, there seem to be plenty available

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 28/07/2024 15:23

I remember considering booking a holiday thru them, and i remember choosing not to as they are not a holiday company - they are a travel agent
this i just copied from their website, (so whilst they are of course atol they are not abta registered as they are not someone like TUI)

' Our role in your booking
We operate a booking platform (online and via telephone) which enables users of our platform to search, compare, combine and book various travel services including, but not limited to, flights, hotels and transfers (“each a Travel Service”). We do not own or operate any of the Travel Services. '

Tha k you for you're advise but they have already paid out nearly ,£2000 which was their budget so even the Xtra few hundred is pushing the limit really as for last minute deals, everything else has gone up costing more

What advice do you want? If the company's gone bust there's not much else that can be done other than offer alternatives, some of which will be more expensive, or take a refund. Frustrating and disappointing but it is what it is.

Iasonnas · 28/07/2024 15:44

They were planning to eat and drink for less than £25pppn?

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 28/07/2024 15:50

So they had found 10 days in Rhodes in August for 2 adults and 2 children self catering, including flights. for under £2000 - bargain !!

So yes £900 to upgrade to a/l sounds reasonable as it's only a couple of weeks away.

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 28/07/2024 15:58

I have just done a quick search on Jet2 holidays ( known to be cheap ) and the cheapest for Rhodes is £3300, it is also A.I, based on 2 adults and 2 x 9 year old children, flying from Bristol on Sat 10th Aug.

so £400 more than what Love Holidays have found ?

Well yes n no , they were offered much substandard accmadation ie no pool ,
But they wear offered this all inclusive at !£800 , and yes it does seem a bargain so they said yes and awaited confirmation , only to be told again that it was a mistake and should have been £900 ??
ok still reasonable , said yes !!

only to have yet another call dsying yhst eas a mistake as well
as it should have bern £ 900 , wait for this
£ 1800 !!!!!!!!!!°

Yes so they did except it , only to be told it was a mistake and should have been £1800 !!!

So that's 45 pp per day extra for All inclusive and to be fair for adults that's pretty good but I guess the DC might not be consuming that much food.

I mean they either suck that up or go for a full refund I guess but finding a holiday for that budget at this point will be a challenge I'd say.

Really sorry OP it sucks.

I'd have a Quick Look around at TUI or Thomas Cook and see if there are any deals then make the decision about refund

DietrichandDiMaggio · 29/07/2024 09:27

Not sure why people are saying the cost pppn is a good deal - even if they were planning on spending that over the two weeks, they might not have wanted to eat all of their meals in the same place for two weeks. Some people don't choose AI places for reasons other than cost.

fruitbrewhaha · 29/07/2024 09:38

I wouldnt want AI in Greece, the food is lovely and cheap to eat out. Two nine year old would eat for less than £45 a day.

Did the apartments without pools have a pool they could use nearby? I’ve seen bars in Greece with a pool that’s open to the public, as long as you buy a drink you can stay all day.

Because the AI place they were offered was described as a nice place with decent reviews. Compared to the alternatives it was a good deal for people on a budget.

JMSA · 29/07/2024 10:12

That's really disappointing, OP, especially the increasing costs of the change.
I hope they manage to find something else within budget. I find EasyJet very reasonable for package holidays.
