Best Caribbean Island for History

Where’s good for history? Preferably British Colonial history. DS is studying the Plantocracy at school, so I thought it would be good for him to visit some places when on holiday.

I think you will struggle to find an island that celebrates the British colonial parts of their history to be honest. It’s not like India where some forts built the British have been turned into military museums. In the Caribbean, the forts have largely been left to ruin with people mainly making the trek up to them to enjoy the views.
Antigua, for example, was colonised for the sugar plantations but no sugar is grown on the island any more and its economy is now pretty much entirely focussed on tourism.

If he’s interested in history in general, I’d recommend Cuba.

We struggled to find something. In St. Lucia you have a cocoa plantation which has a bit of history.
Barbados has a brilliant little museum but it definitely doesn’t show the Brits in a good view.

Lots of forts have been demolished as PP said.

Does it has to be British? There are several museums in the south of the US based in old plantations, two are previously owned by Washington and Jefferson.

I don't think those places are particularly keen on bigging up the immense human suffering caused by European nations as a tourist attraction, tbh.

St Lucia was pretty good for history. It would be good for your son to hear the story from the other side.
