Haven with 6ft children

We have had such good times over the years on Haven/Parkdean type sites in the static caravans and fancy booking again. Have 2 ds, both late teens and 6ft tall so don't fit in the beds.

Don't really fancy them in the lounge area, on the sofa beds there, as don't want to have to faff about with putting beds up each night, and are up earlier than the lads so would cause difficulties in the mornings.

Anyone had this/been able to get round it? Any ideas?

Thank you

Blow up bed on the floor?

DuncanMeBiscuit · 26/07/2024 22:26

You won't have to faff about with the beds, they're old enough to do that themselves and it only takes a few minutes.

We just did a week in Woolacombe with a whole load of extended family and 6 4 partner and 6 6 DSS.

I wouldn't do it again.

I'm only 5 4 and the double bed is bloody tiny. Slept so badly all week.

My sister booked one of the chalets they had proper beds.

Book two caravans?

Pigeonqueen · 27/07/2024 09:43

Surely they can just sleep on their side with their legs slightly tucked up? Isn’t that how everyone sleeps anyway? We’re a tall family and go to Haven all the time and never even occurred to us to be an issue. Yeah the beds are tiny but you can still sleep in them (dh and adult dd are both over 6ft).

they Just suck it up….or you go for a different holiday like a cottage

They will fit in double Haven beds if they go diagonal.

I used to have a static caravan which had a bunk room with 4 beds (2 up 2 down) along 2 walls in an L shape. So if you were in one of the bunks along the longer wall, you had the other bed running lengthways at your feet. I hope that makes sense! A giant could fit on them... worth looking for something with that layout.

Years ago we used a large piece of foam/pillows on a fold up footstool as an extension for feet - had a quick look and you can now buy foam blocks for this purpose! Assuming there is space at the end of the bed, this might work for you too?

The other way round it - and something we’ve done - is get as many bedrooms as you can and each bedroom has two single beds in and you can remove the table between the beds and push the beds together so they can sleep diagonally if they’re the only one in the bedroom.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 27/07/2024 20:55

Book a 3 bedroom, and put the two single beds together so they can sleep diagonally.

We've just come back from a week at haven with 2 adults and 2 teens and no one slept the whole week the beds are just too tiny, they are very thin as well as short so you can't even sleep diagonally. I'd look at a chalet/lodge instead.
