I just want to confirm that I haven't mis read anything as first time visiting Turkey. I obviously have passports and travel insurance, but from what I gather is it true we don't need a visa and the E11 health card isn't valid in turkey? Also in terms of currency what should I take? English money or Lira, travel card?
Any advice for first time visiting? I am staying in oludeniz.

Hi, no visa required and no, your European health card does not apply as Turkey is not in the E.U. Id take English sterling and change there as much better exchange rate compared to changing in the uk. Not long back and heading back in Sept.
Prices have gone up considerably due to inflation so shop around according to your budget. Learn your Lira as in 200 = £5, 400 = £10 and so on.
plenty sunscreen as it’s very hot. Have an amazing holiday 😊😎

We love Olu Deniz! Been 5 times now.
Take £ not everywhere takes card and they prefer English cash to local currency so you'll get a better price.
Make sure you have travel insurance as GHIC (was E111) not valid.
No visa needed these days, made sure you have at least 150 days on your passport and at least one empty page. Tourism tax payable at hotel on arrival.
Dalaman airport is military so be prepared for lots of extra security checks which take time but are reassuring.
Have a lovely time Smile

Ok great thank you, I am just worrying case I've missed anything 😬

As pp says, Dalaman airport is a military one. Not bad flying in, but 3 bag checks when flying out. It’s also extortionately expensive for food - €25 for a McDonald’s, so take food for the journey home.
I found that they give bigger discounts in the shops if you pay by cash. Anything goes, liras, sterling or euros. Tips are appreciated, but not mandatory.
Turkey is lovely. It’s safe and the people, food and scenery are lovely. Don’t stay in the resort. There are so many things to see and the trips are good value.
Have a great time!

Sorry to jump on your post OP but I wanted to ask about Turkey also.

Has anyone been to Bodrum?

We want to go to in September and found a couple of nice hotels, but OMG the reviews, they are soooo extremely varied, some really good, like 10/10 or 2/10 for the same hotel! I've researched loads and finding it the same.

I wouldn't mind if bad was for silly things like it was noisy or the pool was cold, but it's complaints about the food and cleanliness.

I like the look of Golden Beach but apprehensive to book.
Thank you

There are also 3 bag checks at Antalya, it's the UK government that insist on it.

We paid by card everywhere and just took some lira for tipping.

Go somewhere on the local minibuses (Dolmus, pronounced Dolmush). Just get on and pay when you get off (much more sensible than the other way around) - the driver will remember where you got on. Completely safe and pretty cheap.
