Tenerife weather

This might be a silly question but off to Tenerife in a couple of weeks, have only been to the canaries in spring/autumn before, is it warmer in summer or pretty much the same?

When I went to lanzarote in march I was actually a bit cold in the evenings and had to wear one of DH's hoodies as an extra layer, I had just packed summer clothes and a couple of cardigans.

Will it be sitting out in a dress weather in the evenings in August or will I still need a few layers, maybe a couple of pairs of long trousers?

It will be boiling OP!

I've been going to Tenerife for years, usually always went in spring/autumn and winter but for the past 2yrs, now that the kids are older, we've had to go during the summer holidays and it has been ROASTING! You will not need extra layers or long trousers. Pack loose light clothing in natural fabrics if possible, plenty factor 50 and make sure your accommodation has air con!

Yes it will be hot in August, just not as hot as Greece or anywhere else in the Med. Some areas in the Canaries are windy all year round which takes the edge off the heat.
We go to Lanzarote in winter and I pack summer clothes for day time and warm clothes for evening. You don't need to do that in August.

Thanks both, we were in Mallorca in August a couple of years ago and it was so so hot! From the weather forecast it doesn't look as warm in Tenerife right now which is much better for us!
I will leave the hoodies at home then!

You won't need hoodies! There is an extreme heat warning out at the moment

2023 was the hottest year in Tenerife in 60 odd years, so maybe that was an anomaly but it will definitely be very hot! I'm not so sure about the windy- in some parts you might get a nice sea breeze, which is glorious, but unless you're going to El Medano or up in the hills to paraglide, I don't think it'll be that windy. Are you going to the North or South OP? South is definitely warmer.
