Help! Child's passport

Just noticed my daughter will have five months left on her passport when we go to France August 9-12th. Do I need to renew her passport? Do I have any hope of getting a new one in time?

www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/france/entry-requirements

You need 3 months left after the date you depart.

You'll also need to check that the passport was issued after August 9th 2014.

"If you are planning to travel to an EU country (except Ireland), or Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino or Vatican City, follow the Schengen area passport requirements.
Your passport must be:

  • issued less than 10 years before the date you enter the country (check the ‘date of issue’)
  • valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave (check the ‘expiry date’)"

It is a UK passport? I'm thinking maybe not as something must have made you think the 3 month limit doesn't apply

Thanks so much for your replies. It was issued Jan 2020.
I'm worried because I asked the same question on Reddit and one person said I might run into a "jobsworth" boarder control officer who demands 6 months. Everything else I can see says 3 months after date of return.

I don't do Reddit but it seems like a good rule in life is to believe government webpages over internet randoms 😁

Why would border control staff be making up their own rules?

I totally agree! I think it was a case of going into panic mode!
