Disneyland Paris - hotel choice?

Can anyone give me a comparison between the Disneyland Hotel and Marvel Hotel?

We have Marvel booked half board for 4 nights/5 days and have also paid for 2 character dinning experiences. But could afford to upgrade to the Disneyland Hotel. Just wonder if the cost is justified? (I know that will vary between families!)

2 adults and 4yo. Huge Mickey fan so neither hotel theme is really a factor.

Obviously we’d be a little closer to the park if we upgraded and I believe we would get the character dinners included in our meal plan rather than paying a supplement? Is there characters at breakfast in the Disneyland Hotel?

Intentionally booked 4 nights/5 days (were there from opening on first day to about 2pm on day 5) we could have a bit of downtime and use the pool etc too so will use some hotel facilities and not be in the park the whole time.

Breakfast is 7-11 and magic hour is 8:30-9:30.

You’ll have a fabulous time. :)

@ClevererThanMost Thank you for confirming 😊 Seems perfectly reasonable to do breakfast at 7, probs out of hotel by 7.45 and at gates by 8ish waiting for magic hour? I understand that there can still be quite big queues to get in at magic hour

March shouldn’t be too crazy (unless you’re there for St Patrick’s day - made that mistake once!) so shouldn’t be massive queues.

Your plan sounds fine. They’re an hour ahead so to your body it will be breakfast at 6am (makes me feel ill thinking about it!) but as long as that works for you it will be fine. If you don’t want a big breakfast before magic hour it really isn’t any major hassle to have it afterwards for brunch.

@ClevererThanMost Ive actually only ever been to DLP once and it was over St Patrick’s Day 😊 We had the best time and the longest queue we waited in was 15 mins 😳 That was 10 years ago right enough so I’m sure it’s busier now lol. We’re visiting earlier in March this time.
DS eats breakfast usually anytime between 5.30 and 6.30 at home so an early start is ideal for us

Sounds like you have it all sorted. Have a fabulous time. I’m itching to book again but waiting till all the building work is complete.

@ClevererThanMost Thank you 😊 Yeah I was tempted to hold off until we knew everything was complete but DS starts school next year so it’s the last time we have to really take advantage of term time holidays 😂💸

I hope you don’t mind me asking another question- we have half board dining so I’ve booked us either a late lunch or dinner booking for each day. We’ve picked Downtown, Royal Banquet character dining, PYM Kitchen and Plaza Gardens character dining.
Is there anywhere better to eat that we’re missing or do these seem ok? From what I can see of reviews they seem decent 🤞🏼 I just don’t want to miss anything! Haha!

They’re all great. It’s been a few years since I have done plaza gardens but it was a lovely experience.

royal banquet is just something else. (There is a supplement for character dining - RB is €50 per adult and €25 for child). Food is amazing, the ambience is lovely and the characters interact brilliantly despite not talking. Even my “too cool” teen’s heart melted a little bit.

PYM is fun, but don’t do crush’s coaster afterwards!

And downtown is one of our favourites. My DD can eat her own body weight in dim sum!

@ClevererThanMost Thanks so much 😊 Yeah I’m happy to pay for character dining for the little one to have the experience 😊 (and for myself! 😂)

Glad PYM and Downtown are good too 😊
DS is currently too short for Crush’s Coaster anyway lol

I did it as a single rider because I’d never done it and the queue was short. Spent the entire ride next to someone else’s child willing myself not to throw up! 😂

@ClevererThanMost 😂 I’ll be avoiding that for sure!!

The Newport is lovely, but it is the largest on site hotel and gets very busy. If you go here, I'd really suggest going with a compass club room as that gets you access to a lounge area which is lovely to relax in away from the hustle and bustle - https://hotellook.tp.st/aCvSPT2q
Marvel is the newest (and the most expensive currently open) but is the closest to the park.
