Hi , we’re currently in vegas staying at the palazzo , we can’t believe the price of bottled water , are there any water fountains close by where we can fill our bottles
Thankyou

Unless I'm 101% sure that water is from the mains and not via a tank , there is no way I'm drinking it from a hotel room tap.

EndlessSummer · 08/07/2024 11:09

Tap water in the states tastes awful. I wouldn’t drink it.

To the people saying the tap water is safe.. I always thought that the reason we shouldn't drink water on foreign holidays wasn't that their water was necessarily unsafe. I thought it was more to do with the fact that there will be naturally occurring microbes in each country that our gut isn't used to and that could cause an upset tummy.
Is that wrong, because if so I won't be wasting money on bottled water in future? 😅

I always drink tap water in countries that are considered safe. Never impacts me, but I do have guts of steel.

It’s an interesting idea, but I can’t see why bottled water abroad would be less different to our tap water than that country’s tap water would be. Bottled water is generally higher in bacteria than any public supply.

Not necessarily. The water in CO is lovey. Depends where you are and the source.

sonofrageandlove · 08/07/2024 14:07

Honestly cannot believe you have to ask the internet where to get water

mitogoshi · 08/07/2024 14:18

Just go to the grocery store, it's under $2 a bottle. Tap water is drinkable though

MabelMaybe · 08/07/2024 14:23

I presumed that this question was linked to the very high (50 degree) temperature in Las Vegas at the moment. Bottled water may indeed be difficult to come across.

It’s not. I was there last week and the shops are well stocked.

Pinkdogs · 08/07/2024 14:39

How did you make it through the airport op?

AllTheWatersTurnedToClouds · 08/07/2024 14:40

Vegas is always roasting in July - nothing out of the ordinary

Duchess87 · 08/07/2024 15:11

Thanks for your replies , we have been drinking the free water that’s provided in restaurants 🙈
surely that must be safe
$5.99 for a small bottle of water which I was desperate for and it was late at night & I had to take my meds .
We was in Vegas 20 years ago how things have changed so expensive .

There’s plenty of water in the shops at a price one particular shop was charging $10 for a bottle that was less than 2 litres

Where are you shopping OP? I was in Target on The Strip last Monday and it was $1.49 for several litres.

Florence4170 · 08/07/2024 17:44

At the Luxor we had ice buckets in the rooms. If you have too, collect ice and let it melt, fill bottles with that. There were one or two fountains around but not many. On the strip there is hardly anywhere to buy stuff like that.

WinterMorn · 08/07/2024 17:48

@Florence4170 thats not true! There is the ABC store, numerous Walgreens and CVS pharmacies, Target and virtually every shop has a fridge selling drinks.

Florence4170 · 08/07/2024 17:51

Sorry I meant at reasonable prices. We did eventually find somewhere to buy but it wasn’t easy, plus I didn’t want to be carting around litre bottles.

FinalCeleryScheme · 08/07/2024 17:52

When I went years ago there also any number of solo vendors selling bottles of water for $1 from ice tubs.

That's tap water. You probably can't taste the generally nasty taste of US tap water(§) in it because it's full of ice, which is also made from tap water.

It's perfectly safe to drink, this is the country that has officially eradicated germs. It's just usually horrible.

(§) Although funnily enough, dirty old New York City is an exception. Its tap water regularly beats mineral waters in blind tastings.

Duchess87 · 08/07/2024 19:57

I was told by a lady that works in the palazzo not to drink the tap water it’s not good she said there’s a fountain by the spa to refill bottles I have to look we’ve been drinking tap water in the restaurants they automatically serve it with ice
We went to the Walgreens this morning and the prices are a lot cheaper compared to the ridiculous hotel prices

I think you should go to a grocery store off of the strip and get you some bottled water preferably Walmart, if you are buying groceries during your trip
