Where to stay Naples 🇮🇹 for teen girls

scotterella · 06/07/2024 15:56

DH has just booked flights in August for 13 days into Naples.

I am anxious we find somewhere to stay our DD (16 & 14) can stay and hang out with other teenagers by the pool / beach and make friends and have summer memories of being teens as well as do all the other amazing things in the area. Everything in the area looks very grown up to me 😬😬

Any suggestions really welcome 🤗

Sorrento?

Southern Italy isn’t really ideal for beach / pool holidays, it’s not like Spain or Greece where they’re totally geared up for families. However, I’d advise you travel a bit. There are some really cool palazzos in Naples centre near the harbour and Spanish Quarter, places like Vesuvius and Pompeii are an easy train journey away. We stayed on a farm (agriturismo something near Pompeii, which had a small pool and a few animals) and there will be places in Sorrento or Capri that should have the type of hotels you want but they’ll be expensive.

We loved Naples itself, edgy but cool, and there is loads to do in the area if you want to explore. It really is beautiful with bags of history and culture and I’m itching to return one day!

The Hilton Sorrento is a good call. Great pool - can always get loungers. We were there in August last year. Walk into town.

Good mix of ages there, erring on the younger side (families with children of varying ages but not many really little ones) as opposed to pensioners. Fair few Americans.

Nowhere round there has a particularly teen vibe though. My 14 year old rated it as one of her best holidays though.

Capri would work but will be £££.

You could try travelling down to Cilento as well if you are up for it - Paestum area has lots of hotels with pools (but I think mainly older Germans stay in them) but further down to Palinuro,, Castellabate etc might work.

You've left it very late - August is when Italians take their holidays and every where will be rammed. What sort of budget do you have?

I wouldn’t stay in Naples itself. It’s not very nice.

We thought it was amazing! The area near the train station is a dump but the rest of it has loads going for it. Gorgeous buildings, gorgeous food, gorgeous people. Not to mention the shopping, the subway art, the Spanish quarter, the marina, the funicular up to the top, the views of islands and Vesuvius, a castle, a palace. The PIZZAS. It’s gritty in some ways but awesome in so many others!

Eh? It's vibrant, fizzing with energy, loads to see and do, great food and a fantastic location!

We fly into naples tomorrow and hiring a car and staying at a marina between sorrento and amalfi. It doesn't have a pool but is right on the beach and there is a Dock to take you on boat trips all over

sosolonglondon · 07/07/2024 18:53

I’d stay in Sorrento or somewhere along the Amalfi coast tbh, not in Naples itself

howlsmovingbouncycastle · 07/07/2024 18:59

I’d do a 10 days somewhere on the Amalfi coast, then 3 days in Naples at the end.

We loved Naples, so vibrant and full of life.

I love Naples but Op wants pool and beach and probably isn't going to get it without spending a fortune now.
